Three cops shot and yet the killer still killed more people....Being armed doesn't mean you will stop a shooting but it does help.

I would hope that the past & this present tragedy would underscore the importance of us law abiding citizens grappling with the reasons NOT to have a legal firearm at 'our' disposal - toward the furtherance of personal and societal safety... ;

I see little value in discussing US political issues with people such as yourself. It is really offensive to me for people like you to come here (a country you don't live in) to disrespect our President as you love to do. But I don't make the rules so it is what it is.

 

Do you have a link? If it is legal to carry what justification can a cop use to stop you and examine your gun to see if it has a round in the chamber?

 

Re. long guns... suspicion of poaching is the main reason; & this would include any kind of 'feeding device' that is loaded as well. That's why deer hunters largely opt for detachable mags, preventing them from having to cycle the action x 5 times every time they hop in their vehicle, buggering up their unused rounds in the process to boot... Road hunters (hate em) also like to just stuff a mag in real fast when they jump out of their rig & shoot from the side of the road...

 

Never heard of that law, always thought it was a matter of personal preference, how do you feel most comfortable. I didn't like to carry my single action 1911 cocked and locked but always carried my 9 with a round chambered because first round was double action.

There is no justification for randomly stopping you to inspect your rifle. ( Terry v. Ohio, Delaware v. Prouse, Brown v. Texas, and U.S. v. DeBerry. ) In order to be stopped and questioned by the police and have to ID yourself is if they suspect you of a crime, and carrying a rifle is not a crime in the state of Texas. That doesn't mean that cops don't try and intimidate armed individuals into complying with their demands. Happens all the time.
