Look, I'm a Texan. We have a large population of Hispanics and everyone one of them I know are good people. I travel to Mexico quite a bit on business and, like Americans, the vast majority are good, honest people working hard to take care of their families. In fact, I'll go so far as to say most are harder working and less privileged-seeking-asshats than Americans.

True story: My wife used to be a manager of a temp agency hiring both skilled and unskilled workers. She was often asked, off the record because it's illegal, to send a company temp Hispanic workers because they work harder. One story she told me was odd because the manager was black and said "send me more Hispanics". Black workers, in his opinion, stood around talking on their cellphones waiting to be paid, the whites constantly bitched about how the work was beneath them and the Mexicans actually worked. Who would you hire in such circumstances?

 

I live within 100 miles of the border in Texas. It appears they've already identified the shooter as Hispanic. He's at least a person of interest and they have a name. Just saying. He's probably Mexican and Central American.

 

True, but sad. Of course, this was the early 70s. I loved my grandfather, a lifelong farmer with over 120 acres he inherited from his father. His son didn't want to work it, so it was sold. I spent several summers there learning about life, farm life, hunting, etc. He didn't have indoor plumbing so one year it was my job to paint the outhouse...in August. Worst ****ing job I ever had. Whenever I was given a "shitty" job, I'd always remember painting that outhouse and thought "Well, it could be worse".
