Wrong, the goal was to remove Saddam and his government and install a new elected government. Locating any WMD and proscribed items was secondary to that. Really then what was UNSCOM looking for? And what happened to the WMD that UNSCOM had cataloged in the first round of inspections was ancillary to the fact he could easily and rather quickly rearm and had the proscribed materials hidden from inspectors with which to do so. It didn't all begin and end with the WMD that he had previously used and which the inspectors were trying to locate and destroy. Had we found every drop, every gram that would not had ended the threat he posed. And the cost of Saddam remaining in power left to his own devices and opportunities.........................multiple times more. It did nothing of the sort and in fact moved the front in the war on terrorism to Iraq where we won. It had silich to do with getting OBL other than it denied him a hiding place with Saddam would have been more than happy to provide him as he had done with other terrorist including Abul Nidal. ROFL, our CIA using the information gather during the Bush administration got OBL not Obama and trying to assert that 9/11 was no big deal to the Bush administration is just an illustration of the absurdity of your post. If was during the Clinton administration that Saddam's removal and replacement with a new elected government was made the official policy of the United States, that did not originate with Bush. Clinton's plan failed, had it succeed then he would have then had to get a new government established and faced the same hurdles Bush did. Bush succeed in getting Saddam removed and then succeeded in getting the new government elected. I blame him for not finishing the job in the first place, I take it you opposed his removing Saddam from Kuwait too? No I don't know that at all and neither do you. The war was NOT a failure, Saddam is gone and elected government in place.
Factually wrong. He had the precursor chemicals from which to produce advanced nerve gasses. The chemicals in their highly concentrated mixtures could have been used as they were to conduct chemical attacks, within months he could have used them to rearm with advanced nerve gases and in either case used the new chemical weapons shells we found with them to conduct those attacks.
I have never seen any documentation of precursors to chemical weapons and nerve gas. I do remember the accusation that Saddam was trucking WMDs back and forth between Syria and Sudan.
Are you talking about the ones with fermentation tanks the CIA never determined what they were to be used for? And these all had duel use, the fact they were hidden and undeclared says it all. Again lack of rebuttal noted.
There were no WMD. In case it escaped your memory Bush quickly withdrew Hans Blix and the UNSCOM inspectorate before they embarrassed him by confirming that there were, in fact, no WMD to be found. The war was a dismal failure. Despite Saddam being a bastard Iraq at least had a functioning infrastructure. America destroyed that and installed a corrupt, inept and dysfunctional pastiche of a 'democracy' which has been unable to stem the increasing violence we are seeing every day. America created that vaccuum enabling warring factions to occupy it. If you believe that represents anything like success or victory then allow me to introduce you to your fellow ostriches. The entire fiasco of the Iraq war was built upon lies, the naive and disingenuous acceptance by all major actors of forged and unreliable 'evidence' of the existence of WMD, along with risible attempts at engaging an increasingly sophisticated and, quite rightly, sceptical public with cute cartoons of imaginary 'mobile chemical weapons labs' and the like.
Absurd. A pressure cooker has 'dual use' too. Remember the Boston bombing? Anything you like can be ascribed a dual use with a little imagination. See these two coffee cans joined together with a length of string to create a primitive telephone?
