KIEV/DONETSK Ukraine (Reuters) - Forty-nine Ukrainian military personnel (how many American?) were killed when rebels shot down a cargo plane during the night over the airport of the eastern city of Luhansk, a military spokesman said on Saturday.

Luhansk is one of the centers of a pro-Russian separatist movement in Ukraine's east which has risen up against the pro-European government in Kiev.

"On the night of June 13-14, the terrorists...fired from an anti-aircraft weapon and a large caliber machine gun, shooting down an Il-76 military transport aircraft ... as it was about to land," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The rebels have amazingly good intel and penetration. Their limited munitions and equipment have been dealing major blows to Kiev with consistency. This is why the "west" can't win this fight, the Maidans are clearly sown with collaborators not unlike Maliki's Iraq.

 

Ukrainians in the western part of the country have no will power to fight their eastern brothers. The Maidans do not have a reliable army and are hated in the country they are trying to rule. This is a terrorist government against majority of people.

Self-defense forces in the town of Gorlovka, eastern Ukraine, say they have downed another plane - a Sukhoi-24 bomber jet. The pilot is alive and currently being taken for questioning, witnesses told RIA Novosti reports.

There were a total of two jets taking part in the overnight bombarding of a local police station.

The news follows reports of the two planes performing an attack around 4:30am local time (01:30 GMT), which resulted in losses among the self-defense forces ranks, as well as civilians. Two have been killed and seven injured in the attack, according to police reports.

"The plane was downed just outside the Kayutovo township, we know at this time that the pilot is being taken in for questioning by the police," a witness told RT by phone.

The witness has confirmed police reports of casualties sustained during the night's fly-by attack, but put the number of injured at six.

This particular thread is not about what i support. It is about downed plane. Ukrainian Army was warned that sky over Lugansk is closed. Let me remind you that just dozen of days before Ukraine army made an airstrike on Lugansk and killed peaceful people.

- Personally i don't support any armed conflicts and deaths of people. I think both sides need to stop fighting and start dialog.
- Why you ignore all murders made by Ukrainian Army? They kill a lot of peaceful people by airstrikes and use of artilery. It is not a precise weapons which can be used against rebels.
- Did you know that there are still no martial law in Ukraine? Did you know that without martial law government don't allowed to use Army by constitution?

 

You might have considered the Christians BEFORE Bush invaded Iraq.. There were over 50 Christian churches in Baghdad alone.

Are they Christians? I could hear in a video hundreds of the nationalists cheering outside the building in Odessa when the protesters were burning and being hacked to death. Later on in 'Maidan' Western Ukraine they were laughing and calling it the May Day barbecue...yet there were children as well as old people which was not being disclosed by the authorities, nor investigated by the government.

As for the Ukrainian army, most of the men could not be trusted to support a government they detested, so mercenaries were hired and a national guard was formed from the 'Maidan part of Ukraine. They are the ones who want to keep Ukraine united by imposing the Ukrainian language as the only language, yet the other half of Ukraine speaks Russian and has no relationship what so ever to Western Europe...nor does it want to be in the E.U.

Western Ukraine wants to keep Ukraine united even though they are two different cultures, because the western 'Maidan' part is being subsidized by the East. Besides that, the oligarchs who have robbed Ukraine, are fearful that if the East is federalized and forms closer relations to Putin, they might end up having to leave the country like the criminals who robbed Russia in the 1990's.

 

Do you have anything newer than the long debunked story of pro-Russian fascists attacking a peaceful demonstration in Odessa, killing a number of pro-Ukraine demonstrators and getting more than they bargained for in return? Some unknown narrator alleges (without any serious evidence) that the Odessa police cooperated with pro-Russian thugs and jumps to conclusion that it was the Ukrainian provisional government that orchestrated the whole thing. I'm thinking Putin is extremely smart, and I'm confident he may achieve annexation of the eastern regions by arming and equipping the rebels (like with the tanks he did on the border crossing), and then that region becomes ethier part of Russia through annexation or a satalite state of Russia.
