Just because someone doesn't worship the military or fetishize (I like my new word!) it doesn't mean they "hate" it. And not every soldier is "brave". That is just plain ridiculous. Aside from devaluing the meaning of the word. I recommend y'all read some Andrew Bacevich, hardly a "liberal".

What more facts do you need, post #121 from snake is a perfect example that represents how some liberals feel need to denigrate our military

It's called honor and respect, and I respect and honor every soldier, whether they were in combat or a supply room. What I find more disturbing is that you liberals have a problem with those of us that have that respect and honor for the military

Any person joining the military today or when I did know that they might be standing in harm's way to protect the freedom of American and the freedom of other nations; although there is no other nation of Earth that is as free as we are and I'm in Texas so I'm one of the freest people on this planet.

I feel sorry for you and the rest of the liberal horde because you can't appreciate freedom because you are too scared to set out side alone. My ancestors risked their lives to cross an ocean with little more than what they could carry on their backs. They had to fight to survive in an unfamiliar land infected with hostile natives. Back in England your ancestors had calluses on their knees from kissing the king's butt.

No, I think you'll find the majority of soldiers sign on the line because it's a relatively well-paid job. I very much doubt that any thoughts of patriotism are at the forefront.

There is a difference between respect, which every person deserves, and knee jerk 'false hero' worship. I respect my family and friends who served just like I respect the house call making family doctor or the hospice running nurse or the parish priest or Peace Corps volunteer. I put no one on a pedestal. You obviously have some long carried resentment and issues. For that I am sorry.

From the article I posted earlier in the thread,
I am assuming that the jacket was hung up in first class given the ambiguity of the article.

As for getting the captiain, that is standard operating procedure if there is any type of dispute that cannot be resolved by the crew. The captain is responsible for the aircraft just as a captain is responsible ofr the ship. And that may have resolved the situation in a better light since most airline pilots are either ex military or reservists anyway.

But this whole story is simply one in which one person provided bad customer service. The rest is merely oblique tangents made by people who really don't fly all that often, if at all.

I think that's simply a matter, as you point out, of using correct nomenclature, not pride. I wouldn't, for example, call the USAF the 'American Air Force', or the Royal Navy the 'British Navy'.

Can we move on to something important now?

I do applaud the soldier who made an issue of being refused when a flight attendant denied his request to hang up his jacket.

Just about anyone who flies US Airways with any degree of regularity does.

If you fly, you know that people who do refer to that particular airline as UselessAirlines or US Scare, take your pick.

Their rotten service is legendary. And this is typical, not the exception.

This isn't about heros or left or right. It's about the generally undignified and indifferent world of air travel in the US.

You are obviously addressing me, and my only issue is with you liberals who have a problem with those of us who honor our military in a special way, because they are special

No they're not. They're doing a well-paid job they took of their own volition. Nothing special, honourable or heroic in that.
You honour those who go above and beyond what doing their job entails. A clerk or cook in uniform working at Fort Awesome isn't special, except to his mother.

So, you respect your family and friends who served. That's something. You just don't respect my family and friends who served. I respect your family and friends for their service, too, Nat.

I wish liberals would make being in the military so miserable that we'd have to go back to a draft and even liberals would have to serve. It would be a shock to serve when you're used to being served.

It's a condition of being a Soldier. A possibility of the job which "anyone else" DOESN'T have when they take a job making sandwiches, or stocking shelves. Whatever mental reasoning you think they have when taking the job is irrelevant, it doesnt change the responsibilities inherant to that job.

Thats the difference, and it's a huge one. They will give it all...for you.

This is not personal, it's business. It's a debate. It's a difference of opinion.

However, since you brought it up, you never cared tor the military. You are simply using them as political bait to advance your warped political views that most Americans do not agree with. .You and Putin have the same idea about freedom of speech and of the press. You allow it as long as it agrees with your political opinion and o everything in your power, even illegal acts, to deny freedom of speech and the press. You are the epitome of the carnal American. Neither hot nor cold, but always willing to use other people to get what you want. And when you don't, you cry, whine, and blame everybody else for your own mistakes.

And that is why the Tea Party will not win the WH or gain a majority of seats in the House or Senate. They are becoming the irrelevant wing of a major political party and will soon depart that party for browner pastures.

Don't be so naive. They will "give it all" because they get a fat paycheck at the end of the month, along with all the benefits-free education, a good pension and skills training-that joining up includes. If they were as altruistic as you suggest then they'd do the job for nothing.

All of the insulting and dismissive reasoning that you have to make up to cover your opinion changes nothing.
You asked why they're any different than anyone else...and I told you.

Now you're trying to spin it to cover your poor opinion of them. "Fat paycheck" (lol), Free Education and a Pension dont do much for you if you get killed. Something your average Subway worker doesn't have to worry about when taking his job.

Thats why it's different than "anyone else". Whatever you are doing is less important than any of them. Sorry it hurts, but in the grand scheme..it's simply the truth.

From the posts I have read from Snakeeater, he is proud of his military just as much as ours. However, that is not his point. There is a difference of being proud of the military and being religiously blind of the military The latter is hwat his premise is and his question has still not been answered, I believe.

The problem is that some posters, like the OP, use this simple incident to attempt to potray one group and exalting another group with the militiarybeing used as pawns. That is not honoring the military at all. That is blindly worshipping the military to achieve a poltical goal. It is despicable and it is typical of the hyperbolic, hypocritical rants of tea party members.

That is not denigration. This is just another completely overblown, flame baited issue.

That is true in many countries but not in the US where many , many of our current military joined after 9/11. In England I have no idea how your troops feel about protecting the little freedom you have but I do know that our troops appreciate freedom and they know that they may have to fight to protect it.

So you see a priest -who would capture your soul and make it a slave to his god - on the same level of respect as a person who has volunteered to risk his life for freedom?? Most liberal feel close to the same way but they HATE priests because it is the priests who preach morals that the liberal horde HATES with their whole beings.

Even if we agree that the guy in question joined the Military - knowing that he could be killed or come back with no arms or legs - for the pay and benefits we have to respect that they guy was willing - in this s**t 0bama economy - to risk his life to have a job.

Having a job isn't a badge of honor today as it was when I was a kid. I had a great job, right where I wanted to be when I joined the USAF.

I was drafted, went to Vietnam, and I proudly served my nation, and you obviously have not. I can tell by your personal attack on my posts that you also have disdain for our military and you just did a good job of proving my point. I have yet to personally attack you, but you find the need to start talking out of your anus as if you knew anything about me.

Yeah, and I especially loved your little rant about freedom of speech, all the while you liberals and those you elected to office call the TEA Party domestic terrorists for protesting peacefully. (*)(*)(*)(*)ing pathetic hypocrites

He did? Was he dishonorably discharged? Was he court martialed? The answer to those questions is no, so you protecting terrorists that are killing Americans, is noted. It is such a shame that you liberals hold up and protest the release of cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal who murdered a policeman in cold blood, and yet you have complete disdain for Allen West who served his nation with honor.

Well the reality is, there are those of us who served so that those of you can go ahead and denigrate us all you want, but you can know I will let you know how I feel about it

How dare she do her job and honor her employers rules. She's clearly a LIEBERAL!!!

    - - - Updated - - -

New rule guys: employers are not allowed to reserve special services for customers who pay more. Any employee who obeys any such policy is now a LIEBERAL HYPOCRITE. But still guys businesses can do whatever they want.
