China didn't get the bomb until 1964 when Mao was an old man and a figurehead. Soviets got a bomb in 49 I believe and Stalin was dead in 53. You can't compare these crude and very limited in number bombs to modern nukes on ICBMs. Not only that but these two idiots were well before the MAD doctrine which emerged well after both their deaths and after the nuclear capabilities of these countries could actually destroy another country. Kim wants in this club and we can't allow it.
