That would make it an unsustainable deal. Just like us buying cheap electronics that last a year or two while they buy real estate they will own for endless generations.

The Chinese will just have to make do with shark fin soup. What a bummer.

I haven't noticed any drop in lobster pricing, I know this because I can never afford it when I go out but I do check market price and always say 'wow, no thanks, i'll have the chicken"

I wish prices went down a bit, I love lobster, but the only ones I can afford is the small $5.99 tails at the grocery.

that's because company typically layoff worker or close down if they couldn't make profit, it take X $$ to catch/grow/labor+other spending, if they couldn't break even then time to let go the worker or worse shut down.

Same thing with cherries this summer and apples. I keep hearing these crops and their farmers are in trouble but I haven't noticed prices going down. Something's fishy with the lobster story.

Trump bum kissers scoff at ordinary Americans who are victims of Fake Don's "easy to win!" trade war.
If Trump has to create more of his multi-billion dollar welfare programmes as he had to for farmers to sustain American workers in other industries devastated by his tariff mania, he may as well place the entire private sector under State control.

Its refreshing to see liberals take a sudden interest in US businesses. Why are fisherman more important than those working for a company that produces intellectual property?

Who are those "liberals" that fester in your noggin and form the basis of your failed attempt at diversion, and why do you feel the need to defend Fake Don screwing American workers in one sector after another?

They don't take any lobsters over a pound.

    Maine is a poor state..

"America has exported less than 2.2 million pounds (1 million kilograms) of lobster to China this year through June, according to data from the U.S. federal government. The country exported nearly 12 million pounds during that same period last year. That's a more than 80% drop.

In Canada, exports to China through June were already approaching 33 million pounds, which is nearly as much as all of 2018."

Trump doesn't care. He wants to WIN.

Nice diversion, and you are right. The pot and the kettle had a similar exchange. The truth is that the government ONLY screws American workers. The only difference is now much. I'm sure you feel that your side of the ugly coin is better than theirs. I may not be a fan of Trump, but I support holding China accountable.

    Cry me a river.
For every dollar US is not selling, China is not selling 5.
US economy is flexible due to free market.
China economy is rigid due to centralized control.
China needs to support huge debth by sustaining high growth.
China is going to give, or collapse.
    Simple.

Ev3n if not, this will make China weaker while the other asian countries that will gain their business and are competitors to the Chineese, will get stronger.
I see here only win-win for US and the free world.

It behooves America to essentially decouple from China.
There's lots of other nations happy to take China's place.
If I was Trump I would link trade to the Sth China Sea issue
    as well.
Xi has, essentially, began a new cold war. Why should the
USA trade with a declared enemy?
Also, patent laws need to be tightened so that when China
does steal intellectual property it can't export it.

This would be a perfect re-election slogan for Trump: “On Election Day, before casting your vote, go to a local restaurant and have a lobster for a price of a burger!
