Did they score a direct hit? Seriously, I think they should focus more on military matters. Focusing on a particular ideology could compromise military readiness:

As is well known...US military is incapable of multitasking therefore a few responding in tweets to Carlson’s comments will clearly cause the entire US military to come to a grinding halt. <sarcasm off>

 

"Diversity", I think that's what they used to call "Esprit de Corps". If our military becomes "woke", China won't have to fire a shot...

 

I suspect the DoD is deliberately missing the point here, which is, of course, that Carlson wasn't bashing diversity, but was bashing the prioritization of diversity over more strategically important dynamics. By that, I'm not suggesting that diversity is harmful (for you folks that love to miss point), but rather that focussing on it as a goal does not have military value.

We are increasingly moving toward an America that will end up depending on its armed citizenry for defense (as was always intended, ftr) as the military increasingly becomes a political sideshow, distracted away from fighting readiness by virtue signalling and partisan agenda. And not because of the rank and file patriots that serve their country, it must be noted, but because of the 'brass' promoted purely for their willingness to serve the corrupt elite establishment.

 

Perhaps you missed the point where the military isn't supposed to be engaging in political activities. Perhaps you'll take a swag at this. Imagine the horror if it was Trumps Military attacking ms madcow on MSNBC...

You know those evil "elites" that the right wing media wants you to envy and hate? The ones Trump, Cruz, Hawley, and many other Trump suppoting politicians and pundits like to blame for all of the right's perceived grievances?

I don't know if Carlson does that, because he's one of a few I won't watch, but read the link in #9 above and go to the last two paragraphs of the "Early life and education" section. They don't come any more elite than that.

 

The military absolutely should not be engaged in any kind of attacks on private citizens.

Individual members have not lost their rights as private citizens. However, generally they should refrain from such activity if there is any implication that they are representing the military in any way. It is a fine line which they should not cross.

Clearly, in this case the military crossed the line and disciplinary action should be taken.

Is this sarcasm? Or do you actually believe that the military unloaded ordinance against Tucker Carlson? Did you read the link in the OP? The only things unleashed were the opinions of many soldiers, men and women, regarding Carlson's recent insults towards our military in general, and the women who serve in particular.

 

One in particular was the senior enlisted member of the Space Command, someone who should know better.

 

I've got a question. After the top brass/Pentagon finishes demoralizing conservative viewing soldiers, who exactly is going to join up and defend our country? I totally expect many of the current rank and file not to reenlist when their time is up. Does anyone really believe it will be the liberal, elitist wannabes whining about their rights who will step up and join?

 

Has the US military ever launched a full bore public relations attack against a TV host? This seems rather unprecedented.

I guess since they can't win in Afghanistan, they are on the hunt for wars they think they can win.

 

Why do you believe the military shouldn't defend their own when they are attacked?

The US military is supposed to be non-political. To do otherwise puts them in the position of taking sides against US citizens.

If the military has a problem, it is their job to correct it. If the military does not have a problem, then they need to stay in their big boy pants and just take the criticism. There are advocates out of the military that can defend them, if defense is necessary.

This does not irrevocably demonstrate anything except a lack of understanding of how the military is supposed to work.

 

Know better than do to what? Speak his or her mind? Carlson verbally attacked the military. Are they not allowed to respond? Is that in the military code of conduct?

 

He is the senior enlisted man of the space command. That does not just mean that he is an E-9 with the most time in grade. That man was specifically selected to be the Chief Master Sergeant of Space Command or whatever they happen to call him. As such, he is recognized by reporters and anyone else with knowledge of the military as the Chief Master Sergeant of Space Command.. What he says is taken to be an official position taken by the Space Command. That comes with the job.

He should know that he is not supposed to take sides in political discussions. If the Space Command is required to make a comment on the subject, they likely have an information office or it can go higher up the chain of the command. He has likely attended several NCO academies including one for senior sergeants. That was likely drilled into him.

 

Just imagine if he ever finds out Harriet Tubman was an American war heroine.

What's political about pregnancy? The fact that a mental midget like Tucker Carlson makes a political statement about it doesn't mean it "magically" becomes political. Idiots like that should be unanimously attacked by anybody who holds a basic humanist moral principle.
