War is extreamly productive providing you win. The US obtained much of its land mass and its world standing as a result of war.
American governments actually bought most of the land and their 'war' was mostly against foreign governments. Of course they deservedly gained world standing through WWI, WWII and the Cold War.
That was in the 19th century.... the US did not gain any territory nor did it desire to as a result of WWII. EXCEPTION We did get control of some Pacific islands for strategic defense. As a result of the Spanish American war we did get Peurto Rico and The Philippines. Yet after WWII we gave The Philippines their freedom. We bought the massive land know as the Louisiana Purchase which went from the Gulf Coast New Orleans to Oregon.
The original 13 States along with Florida and everything from Texas to California are spoils of war. By stratiegically delaying their entry into WWI and WWII they were able to diminish the former European powers while leaving themselves well positioned to gain world market share in the post war economies.
You forgot the hundreds of strategic military bases and nearly complete control of natural resources.
Well we did buy Louisiana ( ha ha) what a purchase about 1/3 of present US. Of course we got the Southwest as a result of what in business would be a sort of "hostile takeover". We acquired Texas as a merger where we were the top dog.
Well yes but we did not grab territory we just did soft colonialism. We were the good guys not like Russia the invader and genocidal maniac of countries.
And Alaska, Quite different from the way countries acquire more territory in Asia, Africa, Europe and South America.
It seems these countries appreciate the US Military bases and the differences they make in the local economies and added security.. In fact Poland has been lobbying for a permanent US Military base.
You really like to put words in my mouth, can you ever debate what I actually say? I guess not. I'm not the one who said that Trump "delivered a promise", the article did, take it up with them. Is Trump getting a wall, yes. We have already gone over the Mexico part ad nauseam, I won't waste my time going over it yet again.
True but their impact can be minimized provided the government acts. A government that insists on saying "strongest economy ever" and is unwilling to make the adjustments required invites a much more damaging recession.
Smart policies can certainly mitigate the damage of recession, where as stupid policies by Trump and gang are going to hurt most Americans, particularly the lower 50% once again. This time they will vote, as they did in 2012, and it will generally ignore GOP candidates.
The same seems to be true with the Clinton Foundation. But what about all of the money from Beijing that ended up in the DNC coffers and Democratic politicians campaign funds ?
When it comes to the Chicago political machine, nobody gets elected to a political office without the approval of the Almighty Black P Stone Nation.
Some do, most do not, that is not the point. The point is that we use military power projected from these bases to control the natural resources of other countries. Imperialism is alive and well in the 21st century.
