Can you support you claim that denying Holodomor is a law in European countries? There are only a few countries in Europe, most in Eastern Europe, that officially recognize Holodomor as an act of genocide.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor_genocide_question

Seems weird that they would make a law punishing the denial of Holodomor when the countries don't even recognize that it happened.

Not every country in Europe criminalize Holocaust denial too. So can we ignore that?

I'm assuming that you were not referring to Eastern European countries when you held up "European democracies" as your ideal, so I'm assuming you are limiting your ideal to that of Western Europe. I don't see a single Western European country except for Portugal recognizing Holodomor as a genocide, and I don't believe they have any laws against denying it. So what was the point of bringing this up? To pretend there isn't a double standard at work?

When did I hold up European democracies as my ideal?

I love Europe, but I don't love faith.

It's not an "insult" to point out that their prophet was a pedophile - I'm doing them a favor, and getting them to see reality - I wish someone had specifically done that me ME when I myself was a faith-head.

    you also have the Pope.

and btw, Faith has motivated many people to do many good things, like feeding the hungry, caring for the poor, healing the sick, protecting the persecuted.

"Cash in" was probably not the right term to use - so how about "get up into heaven to then get their 72 virgins"....btthegreat can't tell us WHEN a "moderate" Muslim will do that, so we should be safe rather than sorry.

Faith is not needed, and it leads to Jihad against non-believers, Crusades, Inquisitions, rejection of scientific explanations, the Biblical/Qur'anical belief that gays are evil and women are inferior, etc. Without faith they wouldn't believe the nonsense of religions - until religions can provide FACTS - up to a court-room level of evidence - should be pretty easy for an all-knowing being to produce, just snaps his all-powerful fingers, but he doesn't do that because he's not real or doesn't actually care about us.

I never said I supported Bernie. I'm a Modern Secular Humanist, he might or might not have been. Not having a god does not automatically make a person a, er, saint, if you will - I've never claimed that. He just didn't have insane religious dogma urging him on, unlike the Jihadis - the Qur'an is very clear: "fight until there is no worship except for Allah" (Q8:39).

Faith takes people away from reality, similar to drugs, alcohol, etc. Faith is certainly not needed for people to do good. There are plenty of secular charities.

    that's nice.

meanwhile Faith has motivated people to do very great and good things.

I recall a scene in "War and Remembrance" by Herman Walk, where a Polish guy brings a massive bag of apples to Jews sitting in a cattle car waiting to go to Auschwitz.

Nazi guard asks him "who are you?".

    Man replies "a Christian".

    lovely scene.

"I can't think for myself, I need an ancient invisible man in the sky to do it for me" would have been a better response by him.

Some good and a LOT of bad - the bad overcomes the good. Being high on meth has caused some people to have super-human strength to pull a car off a car-crash victim - doesn't mean meth is a good thing overall, however. I bet that Nazism inspired some people to do some good, but overall it's a terrible belief system, of course.

Darwin was right, so we can't condemn Darwin as such. What people do with the truth (Darwin discovered the truth - Jesus didn't know, so Jesus is false, of course) is their own fault, not Darwin's fault.
