Secondly you come in here callling everyone ignorant who voted for Obama; in case you forgot, this is America, land of free choice. Movies like this remind me never to underestimate a human being's ability to talk themselves into crazy conclusions when they don't understand the dynamics of a problem that is put before them.

My favorite segment was the "media Shanghai" bit. Very high production values there. Oh no! Obama has gone to a "secret meeting"! Because no one in business or politics ever has closed door meetings that they don't share with other colleagues or interested bystanders.

Let me ask you a question... if you had a neighbor you'd spoken to a few times, and one day you decided to go have a private meeting with your family instead of watching the game with your neighbor... and then your neighbor said "hey can I come with you? What are you guys going to talk about?", and then you said no and he accused you of conspiring against him or "talking about him behind his back", would you think he was a little crazy? What about if he was your business colleague and not your neighbor, and you were meeting with some other managers and not your family? What if you were a Congressman and not a business man and the guy was a reporter and not your colleague?

Also liked the Hotel Fire Alarm bit. Very convincing.

You know... to get people to watch 2 hours worth, you have to at least show your homework and prove some facts early on in the piece otherwise you lose the audience's confidence. One big pile of accusations and not a single piece of hard evidence linking a person with an accusation, from a well-known source. I am as big a critic of the media as anyone and think most of them are lazy on their fact checking and all the rest, but I'm reasonably sure... if even 1/10th of this stuff were true, at least ONE reputable journalist would've blown the cover off of some part of it by now if for no other reason than career progress / selfish motivations. To be the one who "got the scoop". Book deals and Oprah show appearances galore would follow.

People need to stop making up fairytales to justify their anger and just simplify their conclusions a bit. There is certainly a lot of corporate influence over the governments of the western world, but that doesn't mean they're out to get you. In fact, what all teh world's billionaires want... is for you to have a prosperous life, so you and your kids and your kids kids will continue buying every product and service they offer. Poor people can't buy much of anything.

This is fairly true on the international side, but much less true on the domestic side. Obama has started a third military front, which despite the rhetoric coming from the administration, is being led by the US. I think Obama wanted to close Gitmo, as did GWB, but could not find a way to do so. He tried the civilian trial thing, something GWB knew would be a failure, and got clobbered for it. Obama may have had aspirations for drawing down our military, but the reality of the ME was a cold slap in his face.

In other areas, especially domestically, there are stark contrasts. An obvious example is the extreme differences in the Supreme Court justices appointed by GWB and Obama.

None of this however is any indication or evidence that the same sinister trilateralist is pulling both of their strings.

Umm, he's a Dem. Of course he's going to appoint Dems with previous experience. Not sure what this is evidence of.

I have never seen any evidence of corruption by Gates. It seemed like a smart move to keep on someone with extensive knowledge of the military situation. You don't completely throw everyone out that knows what's going on when you're in the middle of two wars.

In some areas they're very similar and in others they are in accordance. However when it comes to things like the "stimulus" it was good to see every single GOP vote against it and against Obama. The differences are very real in how to handle our current financial crisis. The conservative GOPs want less government and the Dems want much increased taxes. This is a real schism that no one is faking.

 

Emphasis mine... because in order to "make up fairy tales" one must first submit a claim that some group of people did some thing or series of things, and ask you to believe it. If you read, you will see I did not lay claim to any story of my own, I simply find no substance in yours and choose to believe the simpler explanation for why corporations wield influence over the gub'mint: greed. Something that has been present in man since the beginning. And if you like biblical stuff, "the root of all evil".

By the way, given that God hates New Orleans (as evidenced by Katrina), can anyone confirm if God also hates Texas (rampant wildfires) and Alabama (giant F4 tornado plus dozens of smaller ones that cut across the entire state, killing hundreds and making thousands homeless)?

Anyway, I like to read from different, reliable information sources and think things through before reaching conclusions on complex topics, so we may not be speaking the same language here. In which case, I wish you a happier life than I think you're likely to find on your current tack.


PS - the only thing that really scares me in this country (if you want to know), is that everyone gets to vote, even though more than half the population probably couldn't pass a 10 question quiz about the constitution, branches of government... you know, the stuff we were all supposed to know by the 7th grade. Everyone knows about the Angry Housewives of Wherever or the name of every talkshow host, or what Tom Cruise and P Diddy are up to, but few people can explain even on a basic level how the government is supposed to work and what causes gridlock in Congress, etc. If you can't answer the basic questions, you might as well have a parrot or a monkey go and fill out your ballot for you, because the vote will be equally informed (and potentially damaging) but more entertaining.
