Hmmm... the reporter brings to light some pretty strong common sense logic to the question. This officer was in constant radio contact, coordinating the effort, providing a description etc. Now supposedly the other deputies that arrived also took a defensive position and waited for swat (that is in dispute). This looks very much like it was called poorly from the top, and that resource officer has been thrown under the bus and likely paid for his silence.

He is on video on the radio throughout the event. I find it hard to believe that it was unknown that he was not inside in a firefight.

This is the way to get at the truth not condemn the FBI and the the entire police force.

If Pedderson and the other responding officers were told to wait for SWAT then we should be able to get a FOI and find out who was giving the order.

Wouldn't most cops be told that in that situation?

Keep in mind that the County is looking at a tsunami of enormous lawsuits. It would be shocking, even irresponsible, if the county's lawyers weren't purposefully trying to create reasonable doubt....weren't trying to create a 'he said, he said' scenario to confuse the issue and try to save all their asses.

all I know is no one had to tell 9/11's first responders to rush into those buildings.

This is a deep blue county with a liberal sheriff

Its not surprising that the deputies in the field are incompetent also

It has been pretty standard procedure for a while, though I believe it is being reevaluated in some areas in some situations. Like it or not, officer safety is considered a top priority, and having a non-SWAT officer go into an uncontrolled building of that size and possibly be seriously outgunned is not an optimal solution.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out, especially considering the initial release from the police was that they were dismayed over the choice of the officer. If he was told to hold the perimeter, then that statement was pretty pathetic.

I predicted this morning the liberal excuse of waiting for SWAT

Because I know how the liberal mind works

    But its cowardly

Would like to say it is shocking that you would utilize this to play your pathetic political bias game. But it follows nicely with your tens of thousands of previous posts.

He was waiting for superhero Trump to finish his burger.

He didn't want to deprive POTUS Trump of his glory.

I've been calling him 'Sheriff Social Worker'. He doesn't strike me as a no-nonsense law and order guy....he strikes me as someone who may have been totally onboard with ObamaCo's justice system reforms (softer, nicer, more forgiving community policing initiatives that pay particular attention to keeping minorities (Nikolas de Jesus Cruz?) from becoming "justice involved individuals")

They are really good at killing unarmed blacks. No evidence that they have form with AR15 armed perpetrators.

Nail meet hammer, this sheriff guy’s 15 minutes of fame is about to turn into a massive American failure. This guy has blamed everyone but himself, tried his best to make it political now we’re finding out people were begging him to take care of this guy with tip after tip but his response is no no it’s not a problem. The other police force on the scene that showed up has now point blank said this guy was a failure on the scene. Oh and to Partizan, go google the fbi call they got on this f’ing loser, from a family member no less. The guy is got guns and is going to go kill people. Fbi operator, ok. I’m telling you he’s going to hurt somebody if something’s not done. Fbi operator, Ok. All Partizan is worried about is making sure the fbi good name is held strong so his sides political story stays in play. A pathetic thought process some of you have.

Not very smart for the ones who were killed. You might want to rethink this idea.

A Starfleet officer would investigate and engage any threat to what he/she was guarding. In this case "children", A true Warrior would rather engage The attacker, draw its attention, and Die With Honor, rather then to cower down in shame.

smart or not, first responders and military personnel voluntarily sign up for an inherently dangerous vocation. nonetheless, cowards, goldbrickers and malingerers exist....but they shouldn't be defended.
