Two words -- "individual accountability". There are millions of people that voted for (and support) Trump that either accepted the election results or heard him speak about the election being stolen that didn't approve of or engage in the riot on the Capitol. This fact alone should disabuse you of your false perspective.
Indeed. Millions of people voted for Trump.... And a majority of those people who voted on Trump actually believe that Biden didn't win the elections. Every poll shows this. And you can only point at Trump as the person who is by far the most responsible for why people still got that idea. Sure. Every person who attacked the Capitol is individually accountable for it's own actions. But it stands that it would not have happened if it wasn't for Trump telling his lies. Those are his actions, that makes Trump ALSO accountable.
If I, being broke, said it would be nice if someone robbed a bank and gifted me the cash stolen and someone overhearing me did exactly that, would I be responsible for the illegal actions of that person?
I don't see enough of a resemblance in this. It is as if you indeed agree that Trump told those lies about the elections, making people riot... but think it's totally legit that somebody gets to ignite a riot to make a coup happen as long as it's not taking part in the riot. How weird. Words used by Trump about him loosing the elections were that people must fight for their country or else lose it. He told people to fight during his last speech dozens of times. He even paid his lawyer to tell them to have a trial by combat during that event. That's not exactly the equivalent of expressing some hope that it would be "nice" if someone robbed a bank. Or putting it differently that's not somewhere close to solicitation to commit a crime of violence or incites a rebellion or insurrection... both illegal by law already.
Perhaps you should consider the possibility that your argument is a logical fallacy. I would suggest you read this . . . . https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2020.01069/full . . . and ask yourself if you're thinking logically, or emotionally, about the "facts".
There is what federal law says, and there is what Trump's haters want it to say: ยง2102. Definitions (a) As used in this chapter, the term "riot" means a public disturbance involving (1) an act or acts of violence by one or more persons part of an assemblage of three or more persons, which act or acts shall constitute a clear and present danger of, or shall result in, damage or injury to the property of any other person or to the person of any other individual or (2) a threat or threats of the commission of an act or acts of violence by one or more persons part of an assemblage of three or more persons having, individually or collectively, the ability of immediate execution of such threat or threats, where the performance of the threatened act or acts of violence would constitute a clear and present danger of, or would result in, damage or injury to the property of any other person or to the person of any other individual. (b) As used in this chapter, the term "to incite a riot", or "to organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on a riot", includes, but is not limited to, urging or instigating other persons to riot, but shall not be deemed to mean the mere oral or written (1) advocacy of ideas or (2) expression of belief, not involving advocacy of any act or acts of violence or assertion of the rightness of, or the right to commit, any such act or acts. https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?path=/prelim@title18/part1/chapter102&edition=prelim
Trump, unable to accept the will of the People, lied to his goons, incited them to attack outnumbered police defending the Capitol, and pleasured himself by watching for hours, ignoring the pleas of those around him to call them off. So far, more than 960 people have been charged for participating in the Trump riot, 465 of whom have pleaded guilty.
"Coup attempt"??? A disorganized, unarmed group occupied ONE BUILDING and its a "coup attempt"? LOLOL
A riot that has the purpose of violently influencing a government in any IS an insurrection. You don't get let off for your crime because you were too stupid to commit it well.
Then there's been hundred... maybe thousands of insurrections. So "violently influencing the government in any way" is your criteria for an insurrection? So when a guy pulls a gun on a cop... its an insurrection? When a guy takes a swing at a judge to cancel his parking ticket... its an insurrection? Wow... THOUSANDS of "insurrections"...
I'm so glad I'm in Texas in a town very reminiscent of Beaver Cleaver's town. No BLM rioters, no Antifa murderers, no wacky teachers training our kids to change their sex or crazy CRT instruction. Our neighbors are all friendly. Folks say "Yes, Sir!" and "No Ma'am!". great shopping... three major medical centers, lots of great restaurants, 30 miles to the beach... Oh, and lots of great gun shops!!! We actually did have a BLM Day. We cleared Main street for a couple of miles and emptied the Mall Parking Lot. Two cars showed up. Three people. We had a town picnic at the mall. TEXAS! WHERE FREEDOM LIVES!
OWS wasn't led by the POTUS. It was no less a clown show than the 2020 Republican Party but that's irrelevant.
Yes, if you made it clear that you would appreciate and aid that individual doing so. That's called conspiracy.
I think you're getting mixed up. You would need someone to undertake/control an insurrection, there wasn't. Idiots think it was Trump who's speech asked for a peaceful march, and also in his tweets. Yet, certain people can't and won't grasp this. And thus, we will all have to constantly go over and over and over this. Even the FBI said there wasn't an insurrection, so what is it in certain minds that they won't accept this? Probably the same mentality that still believe it was a stolen election. I wonder if a study should be conducted to see if low IQ is connected to such nothingburgers and conspiracy theories. Did the BLM try to influence the government? Not another insurrection, lol
As I said, "So what is it in certain minds that they won't accept this? Probably the same mentality that still believe it was a stolen election"
It wasn't an insurrection, but some still NEED it to have been an insurrection. Maybe Insurrection threads from now on should be moved to the conspiracy section! Lol
Jan 6 was not "led" by Trump. No riots have leaders. Which is not to say that he does not bear moral and political responsibility, as Sen. MCCONNELL declared.
You're making me homesick. Tell you something interesting: Jesse Jackson was planning to come to Dallas to lead a rally a few years ago. Many black voices there wanted nothing to do with him, because they knew he was nothing but a parasitic troublemaker. I heard them on radio call in shows.
