I find it just as offensive and so do many others to kneel during or national anthem or burning our nations flag as some do with seeing someone wear the confederate flag
but liberals will defend those kneeling and burning the flag as freedom of speech so why doesn't this student get that same consideration

or do you think freedom of speech only applies to speech you agree with?

Probably all, but the teacher should escape unscathed.

Kenwood High is a part of Baltimore County Public Schools. The BCPS system has a student handbook, and in it there’s a section about student dress codes which reads like this:

Every single public school system in the state has a similar handbook detailing everything, including the dress code. And they all say the same thing about what’s not allowed.

I would say that the punishment of an ass kicking, although unnecessary, was rendered for stupidity. Stupid usually has to pay.

5 and 6 are very subjective and also contributes to what is called mob rule
lets say a girl wears a shirt with a four leaf clover on it and a number of students are highly offended for what ever reason because they are anti Irish or maybe complaining about culture appropriation for what ever reason doesn't matter
should then shirts depicting a four leaf clover be banned ?

    then what's next?

if we keep kowtowing to the offended it will be nothing but chaos

Actually, no. There are very few good black QBs. Remember when Limbaugh stated that obvious fact and was fired for it?

No. And no one is saying the kid should be assaulted.

Except this school’s handbook didn’t, according to the article.

Don’t know, but I do know a Confederate flag is almost universally despised by lots of people and has way too many negative connotations attached to it. Not so much a four-leaf.

Solids, classic old-time stripes, and polka dots, and nothing at all with any written language of any kind, and no symbols at all because these might possibly offend somebody somewhere. Solids, stripes, and polka dots likely won't offend anyone.

Next step is enforced school uniforms.

Yeah, I saw it, and it said nothing specific about Confederate flags, exactly like the anchorman in the article’s video stated.

I bet as many people find burning the American flag is just as offensive as wearing the confederate flag
but liberals will excuse and defend the burning of the American flag as freedom of speech so why doesn't wearing the confederate flag not get that same consideration
or is that once again a double standard example of freedom of speech only applies to speech you agree with?

Anything offensive, vulgar, obscene or looking to incite a disruption is outlawed on school grounds, and you would have to be an idiot to think a Confederate flag wouldn’t fall under those categories. Especially in the Baltimore area.

Do you see anything in there about a flag burning?

Well now.......that would be in the eye of the beholder......right? So you want to live in a society where people just go around beating the crap out of other people based upon their personal perceptions as to what is ‘offensive’? You would probably have a different opinion if four White kids beat up a black kid for wearing a ‘Black Lives Matter’ shirt.....

isn't kneeling during the national anthem offensive to many? so why are high school athletes allowed to do so? and defended when they do as freedom of speech

    That’s not the dress code.

That would make sense if I hadn’t already called for the assaults to be charged for a crime. Just not going to feel sorry. When you go looking for trouble, you can usually find it.

Looks like the right-wing punk in the flag shirt made a dumb decision.

Hopefully he'll make better decisions in the future...

you are the one claiming you shouldn't be allowed to wear something that is offensive but I gather its only crap that you think is offensive shouldn't be worn

if we keep kowtowing to the offended it will continue down the road to authoritarianism

I'm sure there in the handbook there are rules against offensive behavior

Okay, but that still doesn’t change the fact that all that jargon is highly subjective, and it also does explain why I stated in an earlier post that there may be good grounds to sue the district.

Sending students home is a more complicated matter than people tend to realize because, if the school decides a student has to leave, the school is still responsible for his or her safety outside the school during school hours. In light of that concern, a lot of districts will overlook what is perceived to be a minor infraction of code. If that’s the case here, that the shirt was spotted and administration decided it was too minor to take seriously, there’s a good chance it will bite them in the ass.
