Go to alternatehistory.com. They call Sealion, the proposed German invasion of Britain, the “unmentionable sea mammal”. The site has its own index of threads just on that one topic.

They have covered it to death. It was an impossibility. There was no way the Germans could have successfully invaded Britain short of supernatural or alien intervention.

While there's been much discussion of different tanks & weapon systems, I hope you'll find the following article as informative & enjoyable as I did:

"Tank Clash – The German Panther vs. the Soviet T-34-85"
    http://militaryhistorynow.com/2015/03/20/tank-clash-the-german-panther-vs-the-soviet-t-34-85/

A point that has not been raised tank vs tank & plane vs plane discussions is the loss of trained tank crews & trained pilots.
The reason that the pilots with the most kills were German is because they didn't have the option of going on R&R & had to stay on the job.

As you'll note in the article I cited among the comparative superior features of the Panther tank was the ease of escape meaning that a the well trained German tank crew could live to fight another day while the T-34's Soviet not so well trained crew was less likely to escape meaning that a new crew would have to be trained.

If a platoon of M1A2 Abrams were overrun by a corps of T34A tanks, does this prove the T34A is a better tank than the M1A2?

A platoon of T-34’s would never be able to overrun a platoon of Abrams.

Your question has no basis in reality and thus I reject it as unrealistic and unworthy of an answer.

Ah. You do not want to address the question as asked because you know an honest answer disproves your position.
I accept your concession of the point. Thank you

Your question is an absurd one. A platoon of T-34’s could never overrun a single Abrams, let alone a platoon of them. The Abrams is proof against the T-34’s 76mm gun from every side while a 120mm Sabot can not only kill a T-34 from any side, it has enough penetrative power to kill a T-34 and potentially one to two more lined up behind that one. Hell, even 120mm anti-personnel canister rounds could probably trash a T-34 with a rear hit.

On the other hand, platoons of T-34’s can and did defeat platoons of Tigers.

Else I have no choice but to, again, accept your concession of the point.

What if a kid with a slingshot shot down a B-52 flying at 35,000 feet?

There, my scenario is just about as realistic as yours and just as worthy of consideration.

No, it wasn't impossible but Germany was stretched beyond its capabilities. The corporal thought he knew more about conquest than his generals.

The question is absurd and has no realization to reality. Ask a realistic question and I’ll answer it.

It was impossible. Germany had no means of successfully invade Britain. At best, they could land approximately 100,000 troops with zero logistical support and only enough supplies to fight for about 24 to 48 hours and no means to extract them when things go bad.

Stop lying about me. I have made no concession. You posed a stupidly absurd scenario and I rejected as worthless for consideration, which it is.

I can't see a way within the confines of reality. Any significant action Germany takes that makes a successful invasion more likely has knock on effects. Either Britain is likely to react in such a way that it nullifies the impact, or it changes the German armed forces in a way that makes other successes less likely, so they don't get the opportunity to invade.

Moving armies across the sea - even narrow bits - is difficult. If your opponent is prepared & able to fight back it is very difficult. If your opponent has overwhelming superiority on water it is near to impossible.

Most people I have encountered who think Sealion was possible are not familiar with German plans or British capabilities.

I mean, the primary German landing craft were going to be unpowered river barges with a draft of less than 6 feet. To be towed across the entire English Channel.

If you want to get somewhere to a true overall picture of WW2 you have to ditch vast amount of propaganda and most of those eager ‘experts’ who weren’t even born in 1945. listen to the real accounts from those that actually served.
Much has been said about the aircraft but most nothing said about the pilots that flew them. The average life expectancy for a new pilot in the Battle of Britain was around three weeks. Many were shot down before they had touched the firing button.
Hardy surprising considering they trained on planes that could just about achieve 200 mph with the wind behind them.

Britain never produced a worthwhile tank until the last months of the war and America did no better. The Sherman was a petrol tank on tracks, its high profile made it too easy a target and one strike too often turned it into a blazing inferno but as been said, it was produced by the thousands.

I am surprised that no mention has been made of the German 88 anti tank gun, a real tank killer.

    I mentioned it - the FlaK18/36/37/41.
The dedicated anti-tank guns - PaK43 - were less common.

We are discussing WW2 not giving Mrs Jones an automatic rifle to keep in her broom cupboard
