It almost made me ill when I read this OP. I didn't know this was going on. Makes me think about meat in a different way.

I know what you mean. I have been learning more about this lately, and it is both frustrating and inspiring.

The frustrating part is when you go grocery shopping and you can't buy anything you are used to buying. I ended up buying 10 pounds of grass fed beef a couple of weeks ago, and that is what I have been eating on. But it's more expensive, so you have to cut way back. I eat meals without meat now more frequently. If ethically managed meat was in greater supply the price would be lower, so hopefully we will see it growing.

That has to be the quote of the decade. " grass fed beef is the most vegan thing you can do". I love it ! Ha ha ha ha .... I tolerate Vegans ! But of course I tolerate Mormons just disagree with them.

If a bufolo and a beef cow is feed the same way the taste of the meat is close but not the same. Beef cattle and buffalo can be crossed so there obviously is a fairly close relationship.

Let's be serious we no long have the land space to produce the volume of protean using the 18th or 19th century methods at the volume levels we need to support our population. Sayingbthatbwe can would be the same as going back to 25,000 BC and try to sustain our current population by getting our nest from wild aurochs and have the women gather wild plant food.

Our world population would starve out in 24 hrs.

yep, buy from farmers that raise their cattle right.. but sadly many buy the cheaper meat, never thinking about how the animal was treated

heck, people were buying pink slim without a second thought, cause it was cheaper....

I've been struggling with this for a few years. On the one hand, I really do not want to invest the time, money and effort into hunting. On the other, I really cannot continue to support the way the industrialized world treats animals and plants to produce the cheapest, least nutritious food possible on the largest scale possible.

My wife and I buy certified humane meats when possible. At this stage though the big producers have been very good at lobbying to ensure the definition of humane, free range, grass fed, etc are loose enough that they can still get by with their big feed lots.

I've got to incorporate more fish, shellfish and whatnot, than I do now. I also need to seriously reconsider my stance on hunting.

I can hone6say I have never been in a situation where I thought that deer tested better than beef. Do not know what kind of beef you have access to. Some for pork never had wild pork that was better than bought pork. I will put the Berkshire pork in my freezer against wild any day.

I love beef, think you misunderstood my post

I meant people that choose factory farmed meat or choose to go vegan rather then choosing to eat pastured cattle - just saying if they want to choose that way of eating, more power to them, just leaves more of the good stuff for the rest of us
