El Shaddai (Hebrew: אל שדי‎, IPA: [el ʃaˈdːaj]) is one of the Judaic names of God, with its etymology coming from the influence of the Ugaritic religion upon modern Judaism. Shaddai was one of the many gods in Canaanite religion.

El Shaddai is conventionally translated as God Almighty. While the translation of El as "god" in Ugarit/Canaanite language is straightforward, the literal meaning of Shaddai is the subject of debate.

According to Exodus 6:2, 3, Shaddai (שַׁדַּי) is the name by which God was known to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The name Shaddai is again used as a name of God later in the Book of Job.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Shaddai

Perhaps originating from the Arabic word Shahid.. and meaning strong or God of the mountain.

    It's very simple.

By comparing that "religion of peace" to Judeo-Christianity it's apparent
that they aren't the same god. The god Muhammad created is nothing
like the God of Judeo-Christianity. The God of JC is personal while the
god of Muhammad isn't. The God of JC doesn't allow forced conversions
while the god of Muhammad does.

Secondly, God told Abraham that Ishmael WOULD NOT be part of his
    covenant.

Not true. He is the same God. The Christians didn't throw out God because Jesus
is God. Jesus was never turned into a God. The Jews didn't accept Jesus.

But if you have evidence to the contrary please post it.

Islam believes in the God of Abraham as does Judaism. The only way your theory could be correct is if Abraham believed in two different Gods. Did you want to tell us about the two different Gods that Abraham believed in ?

Speaking of the God of Abraham "El Shaddai", is it not an interesting coincidence that Shaddai was the name of a Canaanite God and Abraham lived in Canaan ![/QUOTE]

Christ said he was the personification of the ideal we call Truth.
That means his father" must be Reality which is the image of Truth.

Jews nor muslims accept that Reality and Truth are the God of the Bible.
Whatever they believe in one God and no "son" is different from Christianity.

Muslims seem to do well with all the commandments.
They repress women which hurts their economy and harms their families and themselves.
But, they are no sexually promiscuous.

They therefore avoid the other consequences we see in the West,... i.e.; Abortions, Illegitimacies, Welfare, high violent crime rates, No Fault Divorce, high taxes, food stamps, special education benefits, etc.

Christ was the image of God.

Truth is the image of Reality, the almighty.
And Truth is all men can attain when they seek Reality, because we are separated from Reality itself.
Using our senses to find things that are true about the real world is all we can achieve.

For man, Truth as the image of God is as close as we can come to recognizing this God.

Yes, that was the meaning of the Garden story.
Man avoided the Truth inside his own head, which was the Lord in that story.
Man choose to think intuitively as women so do.

And man choose behaviors which were self centered, not truthful things.
Man turned away from Reality, and sought satisfaction of his own Self.

How can you say Muslims worship a different God from Christians if they also believe in the Ten commandments?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Commandments#Islam

The Qur'an includes a version of the Ten Commandments in sura Al-An'am.6:151:

    Jesus is God.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
    Word was God.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen
his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Abortion is permitted in Islam as are contraceptives.. Children are welcome, but they have a tradition of wanting to space their children 3 years apart for the health of the mother and child.

    - - - Updated - - -

Where on earth did you get the idea that God is not "personal" to Muslims?

Really? Where are their 10 commandments? The example you gave isn't
close to those God gave to Moses.

There are some similarities because Mohammad borrowed from the Holy
    Texts but they end there.

God promised a Savior and he came. That "religion of peace" recognize
him only as a prophet. Jesus was born of a virgin and they reject that.

What does that "religion of peace" have in common with Christianity?
    those

You already have given all the evidence you need. "The Jews didn't accept Jesus" = The Jews did not believe Jesus was the God of Abraham.

For that matter the disciples did not believe that either and nor did the early Church fathers.

Jesus himself did not belief he was the God of Abraham and nor did Satan.

And your evidence to the contrary is what ? one or two ambiguous passages that could have alternate meanings ?

From the Qur'an. It teaches that allah is unknowable. The Bible is all about
a personal relation with God and more so with Jesus, who is God.

Muslims believe in Moses, David, Solomon, Ezekiel, Noah, etc. They basically believe in the OT stories, with a few details changed.

Jews believe Jesus was a false prophet. The Talmud denounces Jesus as a false prophet and says he is in hell right now. So how can you say Jews and Christians worship the same god?

You are right. The Islamic commandments cited in Post #87 are completely different from the Ten Commandments God wrote on the stone tablets for Moses. But I suggest that you don't have a clue as to what those commandments were except for one or two you may get lucky with.

I'm going to cut it down to the most salient feature, Christians can eat bacon. The rest is immaterial. Fortunately, as an atheist, I am free to do whatever my ethics allow without fear of eternal retribution.

With all due respect that means nothing. Mohammad borrowed (stole) from
the Bible. His god has nothing in common with Almighty God.
Because He's the same God. Jesus was promised to the Jews in many, many
prophecies. They, possibly a majority, rejected Him. That's the gist of the
Letter to the Romans. There were many who believed.

Isaiah 53 is very specific. How they rejected Him is beyond fantastic.

Correct. I don't know the commandments of that "religion of peace. I can
quote the 10 Commandment in Exodus as well of a few hundred other
verses of the Bible. Not to be arrogant. It's just that I know what I believe
    and am very well educated.

Jesus was not unique nor fulfilled the prophecy of the Jewish messiah. But keep telling people what they believe.
