I’ve been following Gert van H since his early teenage years. He’s a talented organist but with a sad attraction to the populist Liberace type repertoire I wish he’d stay away from.

If there was any justice you’d be locked up for exposing us to that.
What exactly did that sweet couple mean by ‘toke’ ? ? ? ?

Do I detect the influence of Massive Attack? Not that that’s a bad thing.

So do I but they don’t sound nearly as together as when they first recorded it.

The CD of this on my main systems sounds fabulous but via Youtube with their crappy compression a lot of the sparkle and dynamic range are suppressed. Still, if you’ve any interest in jazz these guys are worth a listen.

This isn’t so much What are you listening to as What are you oggling at. The guy in the orange top is Jake Trebus, 18 years old, classicaly trained and a Rudolf Nureyev in the making.

A bit of turgid patriotic pomp but what on earth are those women wearing on top of their heads?

In memory of New Orleans legend Dr. John, who passed away last Thursday...

My personal favorite - Dr. John on vocals with Jimmy Smith...

    Piano classic...

    His biggest hit single...

Wonderful voice and permormance BUT to my ears the melody itself is too ‘cheery’ for the lyrics.

Dr John was unique. He worked brilliantly outside of any category I can think of .

I’ve never been able to explain why Stevie Nicks hypnotises me. I’m a gay man with no time for occultism.
Her recent Crossroads concert with Lady Antebellum is a standout. She seldom got to perform with musicians up to her own stardard but when she does the roof is lifted off.

Can anyone reconize this singer / band? The Youtube site only lists MBATLANTA which I’m guessing is the recording company. They lyrics don’t sound gay to me so maybe the singer & band won’t be too happy when they run across the graphics added to their song?

That's an enormous compliment to any artist, and well deserved in Dr. John's case.

New Orleans is by far my favorite city in the United States, so I can share the sense of loss people are feeling in the Big Easy. :(
