He had his days but I don't understand the lyrics. Seems he can't make up his mind in this song if he likes the family life or the hippy life. Responsible or carefree.

Being a recent entrant into geezerhood, I play a lot of older music.

This one never gets pushed out of the regular rotation.

Nope, not for me. Sorry. I just don't like the growlers. Funny, because I like a lot of that music. It's just when they start "singing", that I'm out.

    I like some "Tool" more.

Dicky Betts, one of the best guitarist. And Greg Allman great on keyboard. RIP Greg.

I have a history with this record.

I grew up in and around Cleveland, Ohio. I became a devoted listener of the local hippie, drugger, AOR radio station; WMMS 101fm: The home of The Buzzard!

They played cuts from that album and I loved it. I really wanted to get that record, but I couldn't. It was limited to 50,000 serialized copies, I think. I was willing to pay someone $20 just to make me a cassette copy. That was big money for a poor kid from the projecks in the 1970s.

One day, some 10 years later, I walked into a record store in a small city out in the country. Remember how they displayed the records, in stacks on edge? You would flip through a stack and then push it back before moving to the next stack.

So, I went into this store and walked up to a random stack. I was going to work the stack backwards. I grabbed the back of the stack to flip the whole thing towards me, then flip them back one at a time. Only, when I grabbed the stack, I missed the very last one. That one was, in fact, the "It's a Beautiful Day" record!!!

I did not believe it. I stood there and stared at it for a long time. When I finally came to my senses, I furtively glanced around and picked it up. I tried to keep it's identity hidden as I shakily tried to assume an air of nonchalance while making my way to the cashier. I felt like I was stealing. I didn't breathe freely again until I was safely locked in my car.

They sold it as a "Loss-Leader" for $3.99.

Sadly, the full album is not available on YouTube as a complete recording, but this guy uploaded all of the tracks.

Of this particular track, the band Deep Purple confessed to stealing the melody for their song "Child in Time".

"How Many More Times" is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin tunes - it certainly is my favorite song on their first album.

If I had to pick one of their songs as my favorite, this would probably be it:

I didn't start getting into Pink Floyd until this album came out:

I've got mixed feelings about the stuff they cut after Roger Waters left the band, but they were starting to get really dark and depressing with The Wall and The Final Cut.

Same here. That's when I first heard of them.

I'm pretty sure that I haven't even heard most of the songs on "The Final Cut" or "Division Bell".

I like a lot of their older songs. "Fat Old Sun" is one of my favorites.

This one is a bit different.

The music is fantastic but the content and lyrics are really depressing. I can see why they broke up after that album...

I'm familiar with "See Emily Play" but I've never heard "Fat Old Sun" before. It kinda reminds me of the lighter stuff you find on Meddle:

Good stuff! I've never heard that song before.

I think Animals is my favorite Pink Floyd album - Wish You Were Here is probably my second...

Despite the weird subject, "Giri With No Eyes" is another great song.

Sorry Alif, I'm too far gone to get that far out. But this is one I can still take in small doses and use to exercise to it .
