The ten commandments are part of the moral law that was reinforced in the NT, the OT Jewish dietary and ceremonial laws were done away with in the New Covenant, see Galatians. No, they simply take them in context as far as who they were directed to. When Jesus told Peter to walk on water I don't think that applies to me either. That was a direct theocracy, and God did punish Israel for their apostasy, just like our government punishes wrongdoers. He is also a God of love, in OT times also.
I am not saying you can't vote for people pushing biblical or sharia law, I was just saying I would not
the OT told the believers of this God to kill people for nothing more than picking up sticks on the weekend - that is the word of this God.. right?
It was more than just picking up sticks. Working on the sabbath showed indifference toward God and placed a higher priority on self-sufficiency. Plus the old covenant is without mercy and adheres strictly to the law. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you already know this?
yep, God wanted him murdered cause he picked up sticks on the Sabbath, that is crazy it's the same God in part one (OT) and part two (NT), I assume you know that as well
When will people learn what the real Ten Commandments are? I hope it will be before hell freezes over.
no one suggests we should, those were wrong before the bible and will be wrong long after but I would ban stoning and such as the bible God preached in the past we should not allow ban blasphemy laws though, as it would be unconstitutional
