From the interview with the author............

We know from history that many of the most brutal crimes and conflicts that humanity has endured were motivated in good part by ethnic, religious, racial and sometimes national distinctions. From the Holocaust to Rwanda, you can find examples from virtually any century of recorded history.

As a small-D democrat, I would love to think that democratic institutions can help to resolve those conflicts, and in certain ways, they can. But in one important respect, democracy actually makes managing diversity harder.

Democracy is always a search for majorities. And so, if I am used to being in the majority, but now you have more kids than I do, or if there are more immigrants coming in that look like you rather than me, there’s this natural fear that I might suddenly lose some of my power. And we can see this in the form of the demographic panic that is motivating so many on the far right in the United States and many other democracies today.

No, not at all. At the time he was voted on, his rating was very good.

But, soon the pandemic raged, inflation from the Trump deficits, Trump Stimulus, Biden Stimulus, etc, kicked in, further exacerbated foreign supply chain shortages and by the War in Ukraine, most of the troubles being pandemic related and the war in Ukraine, all of which are factors beyond anyone's control, Republicans have done a good job of blaming it all on Biden.

But, the pandemic will fade, and the war won't last forever. So, things can change by 2024. The show isn't over until it's over.

He took the disorganized, virtually non-existent, plan for the national distribution of vaccines (Trump left it to the states to figure out because Trump was too busy golfing and spreading the Big Lie to work on it) and greatly increased the speed and efficiency of distribution, saving thousands of lives.

Millions have health care (when he was with O, he was instrumental in working with congress to get ACA passed) which got me a needed operation at a time in my life when I couldn't afford it. He saved my business with the PPP program ( so no doubt millions of others were saved ) where my application was rejected under Trump, he got the infrastructure bill passed, Trump tried and failed.

He's achieved far more in his first year and with Obama than Trump ever did in his four years, real benefits, not vague fluff stuff, like signing EOs, or hyping agreements that are low hanging fruit among nations not at war as 'historical peace agreements' (they are not) that Trump will claim is an 'accomplishment'. You show me a bona fide accomplishment by Trump and I'll show you hyperbole.

Thanks for clueing me in Lee. I'll think about that the next election. So, how did your plan to vote against the only President in my lifetime that gave a crap about the taxpayers of this country work out?

So you agree with illegals flooding the border at the taxpayers expense, Americans killed when left behind by the Biden administration in Afghanistan, not to mention BILLIONS of dollars in military left behind for the terrorists.

"You show me a bona fide accomplishment by Trump and I'll show you hyperbole." This quote tells me that you are one sided and will NEVER listen to any fact on the other side. Let me give you a tip: ALL politicians are the problem and will NEVER be the solution.

Naturally, someone who isn't logical probably cannot detect sarcasm, either.

    It's logical.

The border has been a problem for all presidents.
Your beating a dead horse, this argument has been thoroughly dealt with in other threads, and thoroughly rebuked.
All Trump is is hyperbole. He's a ***********.

The brilliance of the constitution is all about imagining the world that we are living in today. Where the Democrats are trying to control the people. Where the Republic is crumbling by liberal thinking that the rule of law doesn't matter. The constitution addresses all of this and more.

And if you think the constitution should change, well, it can. You just have to get the votes to make those changes.

But if you think that the constitution should change, then you shouldn't have a problem with the Supreme Court re-evaluating rules of law establishes today or in the past.

Just because you lean Democrat and the President is a Democrat, you don't always get what you want! That is called Checks and Balances!

We don't elect the president. We recommend to the electoral college who to elect for president. Though sworn to vote as the people choose, electors can ignore
the popular vote and vote otherwise.

IF that were true he would have gotten reelected. In fact, he couldn't care less about the "taxpayers". Benedict Donald ONLY cares about himself and the money he can mine from his followers pockets.

In fact, President Biden has done, and is trying to do, a great job of picking up the pieces of Donald Judas tRumps one term presidency.

That was true for awhile but many States have passed laws that require the EC to vote with the people.
