Pence files paperwork to run for president

Mike Pence filed paperwork on Monday to run for president, setting up an unprecedented contest between a former vice president and a former president of his own party for the nomination. His largest task will be attempting to win back Republicans who largely cast him aside following Donald Trump’s presidency.

Pence’s entry into the race comes after a sometimes tumultuous two years in the political wilderness following his actions on Jan. 6 to certify the 2020 election, resisting intense pressure from Trump. He has occasionally faced boos from the MAGA base at GOP confabs in places such as a Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Florida in 2021 and even on his home turf at a National Rifle Association meeting in Indianapolis this year.

Significant because now that Mitch McTreason has orchestrated the seating of a radically conservative court and the 50 year precedent of Roe has been set aside, what do evangelicals need the Orange Fraud for? You know, the twice divorced, immoral, adulterer. What is he compared to the guy who doesn't like to eat in the presence of a woman without his wife?

Vice President Pence’s “never dine alone with a woman” rule isn’t honorable. It’s probably illegal.

Dinner with the opposite sex "alone" in a public setting should not be an issue as there are plenty of "witnesses" around. However, I would drag a buddy, another co-worker along so there would never be some accusations of impropriety.

No, the woman is not entitled to a private dinner or a private setting with a man. Even if the woman makes the argument that she's broaching the subject of work, the restaurant, hotel, etc is not the designated work place. Which is the only relation between the two people and the only 'space' in which a relation can exist.

In other words, she is only an employer at her place of employment, no more or no less. The idea that a woman is entitled to a man's space because she's a woman is absurd and yes, that's what that article effectively argued.

Mr. Michael Pence is filing in order to keep his name before the public. He may be angling for a nice cushy job after the elections.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

    @Lee Atwater

pence will probably get about the same % in new hampshire that bobby jindal got in2016.

it would be quite a feat to become the nominee of a party that built a gallows and sent in the oath keepers to hang him.

No defender of Pence, but the rule to never have dinner with a woman alone is not only honorable, but practical and prudent, especially in consideration of the malfeasance of the "Me Too" movement. "Me too" is a highly politicized, highly partisan movement. The nail in the coffin to their credibility and impartiality was when they were silent when Joe Biden was accused of sexual assault against Tara Reade. Hell, a New York Times writer wrote that they believed Tara Reade, but still were going to vote for Joe Biden. What a sham of a movement, and what a disgusting thing to politicize. But what else can you expect from Democrats?

Pence has an insignificant chance of being significant, imo.

It would appear that you "believe" depending on if the person accused has an "R" or a "D" before their name.

    Sick.

Men who isolate themselves from women are in the thrall of stereotypes

Men needn’t isolate themselves from women in the workplace out of fears of false allegations of harassment. The vengeful, spurned woman who ruins an honorable man’s life (think Demi Moore in Disclosure) is a backlash caricature with an outsize impact on the popular imagination. False claims of harassment are exceedingly rare and impossible to prove; even meritorious claims of harassment are hard to prove. Men shouldn’t worry about being led unto temptation because, well, it is entirely within their control whether to harass a subordinate or initiate an affair.

We have a president who brags about grabbing women by the ***** — and a vice president who won’t even have dinner with them. These are two sides of the same coin, both reflecting the fundamentally unequal sphere working women inhabit because of male behavior.

    What significance could this have?

None. Pence has all the charisma & magnetism of Michael Dukakis. He's the living embodiment of milquetoast RINO. Plus he's a coward. Stick a fork in him; he's done even before a single vote is ever cast in any primary/caucus.

Pence is a moderate and non-divisive. He would be much better than Trump or Biden.

Looks like Cris Christie is also joining the race.
