What's the problem with law enforcement using horses?

This is just so insane! Border patrol agents have actually been stood down "pending an investigation" into their use of horses in patrolling the border, even though the administration has acknowledged that they didn't use whips! So if there was no use of whips, then we're just left with the use of use of horses. What the hell is the problem with using horses? They didn't use their PERSONAL horses! They were real border patrol horses! Was the administration unaware that horses were part of border patrol? How ridiculous! :roflol:

No, but in this instance the photographs tended to make the operation look all 'Planet of the Apes' and like all large organizations these days government bureaucracies are acutely 'risk adverse' when it comes to their public image. So a 'review' will be done and once they've assured themselves all normal protocols were followed they'll be allowed to saddle up again. (And possibly cautioned to try and be more aware of cameras in the future when working in the field .)

Don't be so sure about that. This is after all, the CALAMITOUS Biden Administration.

Which would be utterly ridiculous given that any PROPER and COMPETENT Administration would not want their employees to do their job any differently just because of some damn cameras. Perhaps you are saying that they will be "cautioned" because you are aware of just how much of a disaster this administration is and therefore you know that such an action would be perfectly expected - which would be pretty impressive given that most Australians wouldn't really have much of a clue. Then again, you are on a US-centric political forum, so you probably follow US politics pretty closely.

Hppy to see Biden 'blamed for the 'big things'. That's what Presidents are paid to deal with. Blaming them for the 'little stuff' like this'? A bit of a stretch. Same thing for Trump BTW. Sometimes stuff just 'happens' and it isn't anyone's 'fault' There's simply too much stuff going on.

All the big ticket items i.e. major policy decisions, legislative reform and foreign affairs issue etc all the kind of things you'd expect a President to deal with. Just like you'd expect the CEO of a top 100 company to deal with a major solvency crisis not things like whether one of the admin staff on level 17 got fired for tardiness or not.

Some of that country can only be traveled on foot or horseback. I've ridden many miles in places very similar, it can be rough going. I think the border patrol would be damn fools not to use horses.

Apparently, the boarder patrol officers were chousing those folks around like cattle and slapping them with their rein's.

You may think that's OK, maybe. If so I'd like to back you up to a river and let me come at you with a good horse. If I wanted to before I was done you'd **** your pants and have welts all over your head and neck. (no wip necessary)

mounted new orleans police manage to control thousands of drunken azzwholes without whipping anyone. the trick is to remember that these are humans, not cattle.

I'm talking about if they tell their employees to do their job differently when there are cameras around.

Okay, so then you agree that it's ridiculous that they've now been banned from using horses, effectively banning them from doing their job in the normal way. What a JOKE this administration is! :roflol:

I just never thought that America could become THIS much of a joke country! How sad! We in Australia have our
problems, but our government would not stop law enforcement from doing their job properly - WHICHEVER party is in power!

Joke is a hyperbolic term. It would be accurate to say that we have a corrupt and incompetent federal government. This has resulted from the electorate allowing federal government to be grown beyond the ability of people to manage it. Most other things in the U.S. work pretty well. Hence our status as the planet's richest and most powerful country. Do the covid vaccines in Australia come from the U.S.? How about nuclear submarine technology? The personal computer you are using to post here was invented in the U.S. Your cell phone uses a technology called the radio repeater that was developed by Motorola in the U.S. And so forth.

Yes, but your assuming someone senior in the Biden Administration made the call to have that done. Could they have? Yes, I suppose it's possible (albeit there's no proof at the moment). But then again as I noted previously it's also equally possible that the decision was made within the CBP without direct intervention by the Biden Administration.
