    1. Robert "Bob" Gilliland Beckel is an American political pundit and former political operative. He wrote a syndicated column in the Los Angeles Times until October 2000 and has made appearances on "CBS News", "NBC Nightly News", "Face the Nation" and "Meet the Press". He co-hosted "Crossfire" in the late 1990s and continues to hold television contracts with CNN and work as a political consultant.

He is notorious for his scandals, as shown in the article by LAUREN DUNN Journal staff writer under the headline "DemoRat Bob Beckel Caught up in Sex Scandal". The following excerpts were taken from the strangecosmos.com website.

A former host of CNN's "Crossfire Sunday" and regular contributor to CBS "This Morning" paid a Fairfax County woman to perform sex acts on him at his Maryland home and was then threatened that the incident would be made public unless he paid $50,000, according to Virginia court records.

Bob Beckel, a political analyst who managed Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign, paid a woman $300 per hour to visit his home on June 27 and 29. Days later, he found a note on his car and a message on his answering machine demanding money and threatening to release evidence of the woman's visits to his family and the media, according to a search warrant filed Aug. 26 in Alexandria Circuit Court.....

Three people from Alexandria, Washington, D.C., and Fairfax County were arrested and charged last week with extortion and conspiracy to commit extortion.

About 6 p.m. June 27, Beckel was at his Bethesda, Md., home when he found an Internet Web site with a photograph of a woman named "Tiffany," who was dressed in provocative clothing. The site said she was available for regular sessions, bachelor parties and multiple-hour sessions, according to the warrant's sworn affidavit.

Beckel called the telephone number listed on the Web page and made arrangements for the woman to come to his house for a $300-an-hour massage, the affidavit states. The woman, who identified herself as Tiffany, arrived at his home and he paid her $600 for two hours.

During the visit, she performed oral sex on him and he revealed to her that he worked for a "major media syndicate." She asked if he could say something to her in code while he was on television, but he said he could not, according to the affidavit.

Tiffany saw Beckel again at his home from 3 to 6 p.m. June 29 and received a check for $1,300. She performed oral sex on him and she agreed that she would return to his house July 1, the affidavit states.

On July 1, she left him a message saying that she was going out of town and he never heard from her again, according to the warrant.

Beckel left town from July 5 to July 11; when he returned, an envelope was on the windshield of his car. The envelope contained a computer-generated letter that stated: "for the last time, you need to drop off the money on Friday July 12, 2002 at exactly 4pm." The letter then stated, "you might want to listen to your answering machine if you think I have prove of your actions," according to the affidavit.

Beckel remembered that he had a similar envelope in his mail from the previous day. He opened that letter and realized it was the first computer-generated extortion letter, according to the affidavit. The letter stated: "I've been watching you for the past few months. Now in my possession I hold credible evidence of your illegal activities. This includes taped phone conversations, pictures, times, dates, dates and soliciting sex. These instructions are to be followed 100% or the above evidence stated will be turned over to your wife, your employer, and the newspapers."

The letter included demands for $50,000 in cash, all in $100 bills, a drop-off time of 2 p.m. July 7 and directions to the drop-off area on Potomac Street in Washington, the affidavit states.

Beckel then listened to his answering machine and recognized his first conversation with Tiffany. A male voice then told him to look at the message on his car, the warrant states.

Beckel went to see his lawyer and they went to the Montgomery County police station in Bethesda. Police set up a surveillance team and Beckel was given a bag, which contained a newspaper and a note that said, "I am still working on the money, give me another week."

About 3:30 p.m. July 12, Montgomery police officers were at the drop-off location in the District and observed a green, two-door Chevrolet car that was being driven in a suspicious manner.

There were two men and a woman in the car. The car drove near the drop-off spot, but did not pick up the package, the warrant states.

Officers subpoenaed phone records and subscriber information for the telephone number listed on Tiffany's Web page. The listing came back to Annandale resident Maryam Massihi, who had been convicted of running a prostitution ring out of Fairfax County, the affidavit states.

Massihi pleaded guilty in January of running the ring and was sentenced to two years in prison, with two years suspended, according to Fairfax County Circuit Court records.

According to the affidavit, Massihi had run the Fairfax County ring with 28-year-old Abdullah Hamid. Hamid and his partner, Eric Holland, would drive female escorts to different locations, where the women would perform sex acts on clients....... (End excerpts)

    2. Worst of all, Beckel is notorious for his controversial racist comments.

In April 2013, in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Beckel commented that visas should be denied to students who emigrate from Islamic countries.

In July 2014, during a discussion on "The Five" about who poses a threat to the U.S., he stated, "The Chinese are the single biggest threat to the national security of the U.S. They have been, they will be and they can wait, they're very patient. Do you know what we just did? As usual, we bring them over here and we teach a bunch of Chinamen -- er, Chinese people -- how to do computers and then they go back to China and hack into us."

Following are excerpts from the article by Jennifer Chaussee under the headline "California politicians call for Fox News host to resign over slur".

    (Begin excerpts from Reuters.com website)
(Reuters) - Two California politicians have called for a host of Fox News Channel's "The Five" program to resign, saying Bob Beckel's use of the term "Chinamen" was racist.

The pundit is facing criticism for using the word on air last week as well as for suggesting Chinese computer science students come to study in the United States only to pose a security threat.

Judy Chu, a Democratic U.S. congresswoman from California, said on Monday she was deeply offended and that Beckel should go immediately.

"He condemns an entire ethnic group as being threats to national security and uses racial slurs while doing so," Chu said in a statement. "The implications go far beyond the Chinese community by promoting a culture of intolerance that has no place in our society."

....A California state senator on Saturday called on Beckel to resign. Ted Lieu, who represents suburban Los Angeles and is running for the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democrat, called himself "one of those 'Chinamen' with 'Oriental' eyes" who immigrated to the United States and majored in computer science.

"I also served on active duty in the United States Air Force and continue to serve my country in the Reserves," Lieu said.

"Mr. Beckel's comments are more than just racist and stupid. His ignorant views are dangerous."

Beckel also told his co-hosts that Americans should be worried about Chinese people because "there's billions of them. All they do is hack into our stuff. They send us cheap toys, all of which have lead in them so they kill the kids."

A liberal political pundit working for a conservative-leaning news network, Beckel last year said on "The Five" that his eyes look "oriental" after he swims..... (End excerpts)

    3. It's no surprise that such racist remarks were aired openly in a news network as racism and discrimination against Asians, especially people of Chinese descent, are rampant in the US. Following are excerpts from the article headlined "Anti-Chinese USA—Racism & Discrimination from the Onset" from the zakkeith.com website.

    (Begin excerpts)
.....what the Chinese in America endured remains an unfamiliar subject to most. Severe acts of racism and discrimination—pogroms, massacres, mass expulsions and near-genocidal policies—were perpetrated against the Chinese, but the facts surrounding this Chinese chapter in American history are largely neglected or suppressed, and certainly not taught in standard school text books.....

Until 2001, US laws against ethnic-Chinese immigration and property ownership (Alien Land Acts) remained intact in states such as Wyoming.

.....Why were the Chinese—who were arguably just as “entitled” as the Europeans were to the New World, and who could be argued to have had just as manifest a destiny as the “whites,” if not more—subjected to such a high level of persecution? Does their belonging to a minority group explain everything? What conclusions could be drawn from events in the timeline below?..... (End excerpts)

    4. The outcry from Chinese Americans and calls for Beckel to resign have died down without any news of his resignation. The uproar started with a bang but ended with a whimper. When will a "Chinese American Rosa Parks" exercise her inalienable right to refuse to relinquish her bus seat to a white man in America? Despite the "severe acts of racism and discrimination—pogroms, massacres, mass expulsions and near-genocidal policies—" that were perpetrated against Chinese Americans in America, a country that is supposed to guarantee democracy, freedom, equality, fraternity, respect, justice and other rights to all its citizens, regardless of race, language or religion, besides supposedly being a beacon of democracy and liberty to all other people in the international community, to whom it enthusiastically and unabashedly exports its ideas and values; people of Chinese descent still harbour an illusion of America which they call "Meiguo" ( 美国 ), meaning "beautiful country". In contrast, the Japanese are under no such illusion of America, as shown by their name for that country ( 米国 ), meaning "rice country".

Finally, a parting shot from an article by Gregory Clark under the headline "The American Dream Is an Illusion" and subhead "Immigration and Inequality" from the foreignaffairs.com website:

"The United States seems to cherish an image of itself as a country of opportunity for all, a country that invites in the world’s tired, its poor, and its huddled masses. But the United States is not exceptional in its rates of social mobility. It can perform no special alchemy on the disadvantaged populations of any society in order to transform their life opportunities. The truth is that the American Dream was always an illusion. Blindly pursuing that dream now will only lead to a future with dire social challenges."

Chinese Americans are one of the most successful ethnic groups in the US comparable to Jewish Americans and they need to overcome the victim mindset stemming from historical grievances. The Chinese Exclusion Act was enacted to protect the vulnerable white working class from hard-working Chinese immigrants and the Tiger Mom is not shy about proclaiming cultural superiority of the Chinese compared to other cultural groups. Asian-Americans exceed all US adults in 2013 when it comes to median household income, $66,000 vs. $49,800.

Your argument sounds like the stepmother's argument in a version of the story of Cinderella. Of the two step sisters, the elder was crafty and selfish. The other was selfish but not so crafty, and hence considered "vulnerable" by the stepmother. As a result, the stepmother enacted an "exclusion act" to protect her "vulnerable" younger daughter from the hard-working Cinderella who was made to work day and night doing menial chores.

Unfortunately, there is only one Tiger Mom compared to many Kitten Moms who are living from hand to mouth every day.

The Chinese Tiger Mom was boasting at the expense of the majority Chinese Kitten Moms who need to be protected from the white privilege class.

Yes, some groups are superior, but some people in each of those groups are more superior.

The $49,800 median household income of the so-called "all US adults" in 2013 was rather misleading as it included the incomes of African Americans, Native Americans and other disadvantaged minority groups in the calculation.

The $66,000 median household income of Asian-Americans in 2013 was also misleading as it included the incomes of many new wealthy immigrants from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia in the calculation.

May you tell us the median household income of the white group?
