I'm talking unable to tell from real. No "uncanny valley" So far I've not seen it, though I have seen close. If you think it has been done, please post it Which sorta baffles me, computer photos are, basically, just a CGI image themselves, yes? So why can't they generate the image without the reality the photo is copying? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA3_X5rQLP0
I think static images can get pretty close, especially if the pose and lighting favours it. Moving images are a whole different issue with infinitely more to get right. In either case, I think there is a big step to get from almost there to impossible to tell the difference. They can get to a point where something obviously looks lifelike but we still have that subconscious sense that it isn't quite right, which is very difficult to quantify and fix. A key element is, somewhat ironically, getting the right kind of flaws and imperfections that reality has, something it's difficult to get computers to do.
One of my daughters who works in that media tells me its only a matter time/hours spent, they can fool you now ....she told me they deliberately degrade images to make it look less real...
