Attention isn't the issue. Comprehension is. People in general are kneejerk in nature. They feel first and think later. Because of this, they are prone to stupid decisions. This isn't just Americans -- it's humanity in general. Terror attacks get people thinking more about foreign policy, but it takes a combination of education and critical thinking to really understand what's going on.
That's true. Most people don't want to learn, and I've seen this a lot when it comes to explaining Islam to people. They don't care, and would just prefer in repeating their nonsense on the matter. I don't know if it's a fear of being wrong, or downright close-mindedness....
Faith is a fast track to bliss. IMO that was what Jesus was trying to provide. As I have previously stated, to the extent that Islam depends on rationality, it is not really a religion.
Jesus isn't the problem. It's his followers extreme praise for him that led him to be regarded as God Himself. That's why the Prophet warned the following: Jesus being God is the basis of the irrationality that is within Christianity.
4:171- "People of the Book, do not go to excess in your religion, and do not say anything about God except the truth: the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was nothing more than a messenger of God, His word, directed to Mary, a spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers and do not speak of a 'Trinity'—stop, that is better for you—God is only one God, He is far above having a son, everything in the heavens and earth belongs to Him and He is the best one to trust."
God, I wish America had a radical left wing. I wish that crazy-ass right wing extremists were right instead of just having complete ignorance of the political spectrum, because then we'd only be weeks away from achieving full communism. But no, we live in a world where Donald Trump is allowed to run for president.
Fear not. The left controls Hollywood, the media, and our universities. The right controls ... nothing. But the American people still lean slightly to the right, favoring minimal government and maximum freedom.
Does this mean you could understand Islam from an American who has spent considerable time with members of an Afghan Pushtan royal family receiving their praise for an advanced understanding and acceptance of the essence of their Muslim society and culture?
Well. religion is really just the briefcase that attempts to transmit wisdom teachings to a new generation anyway. It is only the teachings that have true value, although the packaging can either be more or less helpful. That's why violence over dogma is ridiculous. Wisdom is wisdom, and IMO wisdom teachings all lead to the same place. Where it differs is only a matter of how it had been fashioned to meet the needs and understanding of different cultures and populations.
To answer your question: only to a certain degree. It's preferable to get Islamic knowledge from the appropriate sources: the Qur'an and hadiths, along with the tafsirs (exegesis).
Wisdom can be divided into general wisdom and divine wisdom. The former is necessary for good judgement and keen perception in this world; while the latter allows one to know God, and attempt to understand His will. For God wants us to know Him. Religion serves both of these purposes, but both come from the same source.
ISIS will be crushed, Muslims will continue flooding into Europe and in four or so generations non-whites will have majority in the leading countries. It's only about one generation away in America. By then the west will be squabbling with each other even more than they are now and China will be running everything with Russia extending power through eastern Europe as their ally and sometimes proxy.
Yes, but to understand how that is taught, is to reveal the depth of belief Muslims know. For example, do you understand why traditional courtship is as it is in Muslim culture? To understand that as it truly is, gains perspective on their belief systems. The word to use is not "appropriate" if a true understanding is sought. The word to use is "objective" sources. What you refer to as "appropriate" is really the historically approved structure of beliefs. And that comes from Muhammed, 641 AD. The origins come from the Sufi.
Islamic terrorism took over where Soviet Communists left off. But where are we heading? More-and-more war, just as the MIC has proscribed since World War II.
To quote Wikipedia, "Citation needed". Fox News is owned by News Corp, which controls an utterly massive amount of media. Fox News is extreme right wing. The rest of the developed world looks at them and thinks that we here in the US are completely insane because of those lunatics. If you'd adopt a less provincial mentality and look at the rest of the world, you'd see how absurd everything that you're saying is. Have you seen any polls recently? Because the republican party is a real thing that people support. Freedom for who? Freedom for the man in the office in the skyscraper in the heart of the city who owns everything? Or freedom for the thousands of people that live paycheck to paycheck breaking their backs for him every day while he gets paid to do nothing but own their workplace? Your very concept of what freedom is works against you and benefits the wealthy elite. We are all exposed to almost no information that isn't designed and distributed by them. This is what the quote in my signature means. All of us are eating out of the trash can, and the circumstances we're in prevent us from seeing it.
I can't say I'm a fan of Islam or religion in general, but yeah, a lot of people make a lot of assumptions about Muslims.
