The art festival was great for a small child. I remember being allowed (encouraged in fact) to paint the cobbled streets, attack blocks of wood with a hammer and chisel and all sorts of other artistic endeavours. This was in the early '70s, I hope the festival continues to this day and will be back despite the terrible flooding this year.
Funny enough, the name Canada commes from the first native nation that the French Samuel de Champlain, encountered and it supposedly means "village" since the native were pointing at their village when they said it but Champlain took it as the name of the land he landed on.
And America got this name because a German named Martin Waldseemüller put "America" on the map in 1507.
