Which country has the strongest military?

So if the Israelis had as many trained men as the US and geographically they were on an even footing, in an all out war the US would win?

 

That pretty much sounds like what the Viet Cong guy was talking about with the railroads and having more guys to intercept supplies on the Ho Chi Minh. We spent so much time bombing it we neglected the ground part. I bet the fighter pilot that got shot down felt like a total ass for getting hit by a helicopter. Wish I could remember that third thing he mentioned though. Now it is going to bug me till I do remember and that probably will happen in a couple of days or so when I am doing something completely unrelated to this.

 

I don't really understand why Switzerland is mentioned. A neutral country that hasn't ever taken part in a modern conflict? Sure, they have a big reserve army, and any invader would have to cross the Alps. Nobody wants to take on the Swiss military because the country is nothing more than a bank for the world...with mountains.

 

Every male in the country receives military training. They have a lot of pride and honor that the US has forgotten in favor of our idiotic celebs and pop culture icons.

 

LOL,,, it wasn't a jet fighter but a Russian made single engine thingy. Doubt the pilot thought of anything after that,, he went up in a burst of flames after hitting the ground.

Quite unusual though. The single engine aircraft was buzzing the top of Phou Pha Thi during the fighting. One of the USAF technicians grabbed an AK-47 from a fallen NVA sapper, jumped along side the pilot of the helicopter and they gave chase. The technician emptied the AK's magazine at the plane. Probably a couple of lucky hits brought the plane down. BTW,, the technician was one of the USAF dead.

I think all the American personnel died.

 

Which of these forces were Swiss or Israeli? And which were not US?

A couple of years ago while in Vietnam I was chatting to a US Vietnam vet. He told me the toughest dudes he ever met are the Australian Military Police and New Zealand SAS. His words- "You just don't fcuk with them".

 

What does even footing mean if it doesn't exist?

It's like debating who the single most powerful soldier is. You don't win conflicts by even footinig. You win by overwhelming force and/or better strategy.

 

A bunch of us were on RnR in Hong Kong. I had just picked up some custom duds from the tailor shop and had to wear this deerskin blazer. We went into a bar, I was tail end Charlie and my buddies filled all the stools. The next bunch of stools were fill with New Zealanders. Knowing that surprise and overwhelming force usually carries the day. I just grabbed the first NZ by the shoulders and threw him off the stool and took his place. Surprise and force,,,,,,,,,DID NOT carry the day.

At one point 2 of us and 2 of them were in the doorway of the bar. I had a NZ in a headlock and was punching him and the other NZ had my buddy in a headlock, punching him. The NZ and I were almost nose to nose, punching our 'victims.' He's looking at me and says, "Mate, why'd we have a beer? Fight ended and we all drank together. My beautiful ,brand new blazer that I had to wear was now only half a blazer and that half had no sleeve. They fought good, and drank way better.

I think it is mostly because so many wealthy people and organizations have their money stashed there that any attack on them would result in the entire world including everyone from the US, Russia, China, Mars and even African warlords would load up their canoes to defend that country.

When I think about it that way I might have to amend my choice and change it from the US to the Swiss since that includes the US by default anyways.

At one time, the city I'm from had the world WBF middle weight boxing champion, a guy called Shannon Taylor. Not the nicest specimen of humanity. He had a habbit of picking on drunks and didn't even mind smacking around women.

One afternoon he went into a pub. In the corner at a table was a middle aged guy, a little drunk. Taylor probably thought an easy target. Silly boy! Taylor at the time in his late twenties and still at his peak. Taylor started to taunt the guy and naturally a fight broke out.

Taylor had his arse kicked so hard he he couldn't train for weeks. The guy, recently retired Australian SAS Warrant Officer.

 

They were bloodied, we were bloodied. We drank hard, they drank harder.[not by much] Some other bars that we all graced with our presence, might have thought we were all SAS, or worse. After all, what was anybody going to do to us all,,,,,,send us to Vietnam?
