Lol...You know that's about the only book trump has admitted to reading, don't you? Where do you think he got his ideas and tactics? Meanwhile, the "white race" that you think is being attacked is no more in danger than the Germans were in danger from the Jews in the 30s. It's all bullshit hyperbole from white supremacists looking for a new boogeyman. The only ones in danger are the self-absorbed racists who refuse to acknowledge the humanity of others. Their diarrhea of bigoted bullshit belongs on the trash heap of history. Whatever their color.
People of color know DiAngelo is 100% correct in her assessment of White fragility. And she is not going anywhere. Her voice is needed more now than ever.
You get to comment from the safe confines of London, which hasn't had a riot in 8 years(2012 riots). I'm thankful for that by the way, the UK citizens should be safe and feel safe to express their ideas. This is the first insurrection in the US since the 70's and we are all in mortal danger of this insurrectionist threat, because like any other rabid animal it doesn't see friend or foe, it just sees something to bite and maim.
Lol...I’m from Florida, bub, and the only mortal danger we face as a country comes from the orange dotard occupying the White House. You know nothing about American history if you think the demonstrators against police brutality are a mortal danger.
I could've recalled a post from you saying you resided in the UK. And I know alot about American history, this is the same thing as the Vietnam protesters, the violence against US Citizens, the demands made against the government. It's a breakdown of our society and norms, not seen in the last 30-40 years.
Some people of color (and some whites) believe that she is correct. Others do not. That is the major flaw with collectivist thinking. It totally obliterates the individual and artificially stamps out each person's ability to form their own unique identity and opinion.
The most nightmarish outcome of this is a civil war based on skin color. If that happens, people are not going to stop and ask, "Do black lives matter?". They're not going to ask, "Are you a Republican, Conservative, Independent, Democrat, Liberal or Socialist." If your skin color doesn't "match", you're dead. It's possible also that the "woke" white people just assume "White Fragility" is true and shoot other whites who are "non-woke", before someone shoots them for being white. This Neo-Racism ideology is very dangerous. I've had "Robin DiAngelo" open of Twitter (not her personal account, just general Tweets mentioning her name) just to see peoples' comments and who is supporting her work and who is criticizing her. Below is one of the scariest Tweets from today. One, because it comes from a self-identified White Supremacist. Secondly, because what he writes about how DiAngelo's theory leaves no "relieve valve" is true. We have the Cultural Marxist anarchists on the far-left, still a fringe minority, talking about "burning it all down". And we probably have enough far-right extremists who are sitting silently, also a fringe minority, thinking "Bring it on!" These people do not represent the majority of Americans of any race, yet we appear to be sitting on a powder keg. If it ignites, things won't end well for anyone.
We had come so close to defeating this ideology in America, the ideology that your skin color matters for anything. The propagandists who painted Trump in such a brush(as well as his supporters), created the ideal conditions for this to fester once again beneath the surface, then you had the Floyd tragedy which resulted in the mass riots. And then you have this Robin demagogue, further stirring up the flames. The result is that our beloved Union is facing incidences that we hadn't faced in nearly a century. I blame these propagandists, I blame them all. They incited the people just for ****ing clickbait and revenue stream ads.
wow excellent reply. So much for intellectual discourse with you. It appears you are the one was actually afraid to talk about racism.
I believe that is still the majority opinion of people in this country. The silent majority. The handful of globalist wealthy media moguls who push onto the public a "news" narrative confined to highlight only one small segment of public sentiment are complicit. There is vast diversity of opinion in this country, most of which is being systemically muffled.
How about the problems that people with light skin encounter, that people of color don't encounter? They exist - I am constantly being accused of being 'racist' just because my skin is light. I haven't heard any people of color stating they have the same problem. I am not referring to the police brutality issue, since that seems to generate from a particular segment. There are many problems inherent to different races. They may not be the same problem, but are constantly ongoing for many. My SIL who is Filipino, encounters racism. My NIL who is Honduran, encounters racism. I, with my light skin, have encountered racism. It is not an issue solely carried on the shoulders of other-than-white people. What some have labeled as 'racism', is actually bigotry.
Any writer obsessing on one topic either produces a monumental work like, say, Canticle for Leibowitz or of course Shirer's magnificent-though-incomplete Rise & Fall of Uncle Bugeyes. That, or garbage. Diversity begins in the mind of the writer. It keeps us fresh.
One observation postulated during a conversation between Loury and McWhorter is that while 25-30% of native-born black Americans continue to focus on how blacks are victimized by "white supremacy", foreign-born black immigrants are entering the U.S. and picking up nice little pots of capitalist gold which this country offers. This competing ideology is that the real problems which exist in today's society are due to widening economic class disparities, and not that skin color causes poorer economic outcomes, and that we should change the standards of economic health in the country away from race and start measuring by the wealth gap between economic classes of Americans. This is an interesting thought from a fellow from Zambia (with dual British citizenship) who is in the U.S. earning his Economic PhD at Colorado State. How about if CNN had a debate to abolish asking questions on race and starting asking country of origin instead? That's a novel twist.
I talk about racism frequently on the PF forum. It's just that I get tired of discussing the same biased narratives over and over again.
Practice social distancing. Wear a mask while out in public. Wash your hands frequently. Take care and have a nice day.
