The Democratic Party does not need an amendment to have all guns banned from private ownership. They just need to be able to get a majority on the Supreme Court.

Generally now, what the Constitution and Bill of Rights says is irrelevant to federal judges. They are each their own demigod who declare they each have absolute power over everything and everyone, and the Constitution is only relevant when they want it to be. Otherwise they ignore it or make up provisions and exceptions that do not exist.

Try to find "separation of church and state" anywhere in the Constitution or Bill of Rights. It doesn't exist. The language "all powers not given to federal government are reserved for the states" was erased since in the Civil War. What about forced busing? Or forced integration? Affirmative Action is in direct contradiction. I could go on and on of all the Federal Courts have erased, ignored, altered or just made up in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

NO MATTER WHAT PRESIDENT TRUMP DOES OR DOES NOT DO, electing him was a HUGE success because Hilary Clinton did NOT pick the replacement Justice on the Supreme Court. HOPEFULLY, President Trump will get to pick 2 more. We can only hope to get so lucky.

I have never owned an AR, but almost all of those features can be found in my semi-auto Rugger .22 rifle.
Point being, you would have to ban everything semi-auto with a detachable mag and collect everyone of them in the country (not possible). I can buy a .22 for a couple hundred dollars and do a lot of damage just as easily. I just don't think banning that one gun will make any difference, and when it keeps happening (mass shootings), and we keep banning more and more guns... eventually there will be no guns left. There is some common ground, but banning one gun seems an exercise in futility, while banning all semi-autos is an over reach. If someone is determined enough to do it , they will find a way - even it means using a rental truck and plant food. Another point that can't be ignored is that these weapons have been around for a long time and only with in the last twenty or so years has this problem become such a frequent occurrence.

 

Yes, those were the only people in America who want to take guns, they aren't an example of what many leftists think. And no one is coming for your guns, well except certain guns, guns that are scary looking, yes they're coming for those.

It happened in California with the forced registration and then confiscation of SKS rifles.

The 2nd Amendment protects the right to possess and use all bearable arms; handguns, specifically, are bearable arms.
Thus, a state limiting the law abiding to a list of "approved' handguns violates the constitution in exactly the same way as the state limiting the law abiding to a list of "approved" religions or "approved" vocabulary.
