Its not a public event in Congress. Not just anyone shows up. Dont see why a psuedo sotu speech would be different. I'd imagine he could use the old reasonable time place and manner restrictions along with of course a national security argument as well to greatly limit access.

 

You would never hear a Democrat yell in the House to the POTUS during a SOTU address "You Lie" as that idiot in the GOP did to Obama. Funny thing, when that happened, you all went here and praised him for doing that. LOL Hypocrisy much?

 

I am not a lawyer, but I would think if he has already fulfilled his proscribed constitutional obligations by submitting it, this speech ceases to fulfill its formal public function when he presents it and he can tailor the invitation list accordingly.

So, he can excoriate the Democrats on national TV, if that's not what you want then have it in the House Chamber. I know Trump doesn't bow to the Democrats perceived superiority, it's why you hate him so much. But, try to keep a stiff upper lip ole boy.

 

He already does that routinely. Its not interesting. Its not news worthy. Its his usual partisan rally speech. He could have excoriated Dems in the well of the House. He could have excoriated Dems elsewhere. Pelosi just limited these two options to just one. He will have to excoriate at a later time, or do it elsewhere.
