    Bull.

You misrepresented the position of the USDA in a major way.

Did you really think you were going to get away with that kind of act?

    Believe all you want.

From you, obviously not. You're never going to let it go, hey?

What aren't I going to get away with? Tying your shoelace to the chair?

Good luck on your quest for madness.

Climatologists state that Earth's warming is being caused by changes in the atmosphere. The changes in our atmosphere allow solar heat to pass through to Earth's surface, BUT they slow the rate that heat leaves Earth to outer space.

On a more technical level, the rays from the sun are a different wavelength than the heat that gets radiated back to space. The wavelength from the sun passes through our atmosphere without much blocking, but the wavelength of the heat from Earth is significantly slowed from reaching space. Our human contribution of CO2 is adding a blanket to Earth, while still allowing solar heating.

So, Earth collects heat from the sun, but releases less heat to space. That means Earth warms. And, this extra CO2 is due to human activity.

You're right that there are various human activities that are larger contributors. Reducing the jungles and forests means that less CO2 is used by those parts of nature.

The far larger issue is that we are mining carbon from underground where it has resided without affecting our atmosphere - gas, oil, coal. And, we're burning that carbon to create energy, and dumping that CO2 into the atmosphere.

That is a GIGANTIC amount of CO2 that is being produced by human activity that started at the beginning of the industrial age.

Unfortunately, forests, jungles, agriculture, etc., can not possibly offset that amount of CO2. So, Earth is warming.

The problem is that we're producing so much CO2 that NO amount of vegetation we could create could possibly consume that amount of CO2.

Think about it. Just about every molecule of carbon in all the gas, oil and coal we mind ends up being combined with oxygen and released into the atmosphere.

We mine STUPENDOUS amounts of this carbon, as our need for energy is large.

Humans released nearly 6 TRILLION tons of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere in 2020. It didn't all come from burning fossil fuel for electricity. It also comes from transportation, where about 2/3 of the oil we use gets burned by vehicles. It also came from agriculture (where applied products and newly tilled carbon evaporate or get combined due to solar exposure) and other sources.

    https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/so...ector Emissions,Metric Tons of CO2 equivalent.

With that sized problem, there is really no chance of a single silver bullet. There need to be incremental changes in many areas. Some of these will have economic advantages. Some may have a cost. It is a policy challenge. But, the science is what it is.

The amount of CO2 is .004% in our atmosphere. The reasons why even this tiny amount is far too much is because, 1. Deforestation & 2. The burning of fossil fuels (ok).
Why is it so? This is my perspective. Because of greed, money & power, the powers that be only gave us the choice of fossil fuel consumption. As technologies advanced and were discovered from antiquity, they were suppressed or bought by the industries that would have suffered from these technologies. So they buried them, figuratively.
Now, we also have deforestation of rainforests. The lungs of the Earth have been decimated and the pollution of our oceans causing the decline in plankton. So, with the increased emissions of CO2 caused by greed and the capacity to convert CO2 back into oxygen, caused by greed we have an increased event that coexists with the cycle of the Sun.
In summary, what causes climate change? Greed.

There is no question that the fossil fuel industries have had huge influence in our government policies on energy, and their objectives have certainly been wealth.

It's really hard to develop a forward looking energy plan with that gorilla in the room.

The balance of our symbiotic ecosystems has become unhinged. If the rainforests were left as they were, possibly there'd be no major issues, but there are. Have you heard Gate's rant on climate change and how he plans/planned on doing it? It has already occurred. It is disturbing, to say the least, considering what has gone on in the past two & half years. But wait until you watch the clip and see if you can connect the dots. It may seem left field but just wait.

If you focus on the clip from about 4:25min on to about 5min. Listen carefully to what this nutter says. As I said, what has happened in the past two & half years and what Gates' says. Coincidence? No such thing as coincidence, synchronicities, yes.

The way to tackle this is to tackle greed. Remove that from the equation and the battle is won.

Greed is directly adjacent to the only reason that capitalism works (as well as it does).

I pretty darn confident that greed can not be removed.

Remove those who control the fossil fuels or reeducate them.

?? Those people are private citizens who hold positions in various businesses.

Government doesn't get to pick out businessmen for removal - or for subjecting them to "reeducation", which you may remember has horrible overtones.

Plus, our elected officials have conferred on businesses most of the rights of human citizens. So, those businesses are impervious to most action, regardless of how important for America.

So far, we've even failed to block the giant political donations that come from businesses - donations that have upped the cost of achieving office into the stratosphere, ensuring that legislators get to choose between being a toady to big business or losing their next election.

We have allowed these businesses to control congress.

Public & government pressure. But the government would be reluctant to because they have their hands in the cookie jar too. Not in their best interests, greed.

BTW, did you watch the video, the 1st 5min?

    Cyclical climate:
Global-Scale Warming Events Of ‘Up To 15 °C Within A Few Decades’ Have Occurred Since The Jurassic
By Kenneth Richard on 11. July 2022

A new study (Boulila et al., 2022) suggests “abrupt and severe changes in Earth’s past climate” have been occurring at ~1,500-year periodicities since the iceless Jurassic period.
Warming events of degrees C per within decades or less were at one time thought to have occurred only at locations like Greenland and the North Atlantic during the last glacial period (70 to 12 thousand years ago).

But the evidence has been piling up from locations throughout the globe (e.g., on continents and tropical to high latitude oceans, lakes, and rivers) indicating these warming events have “a global interconnection between the two hemispheres.”

These “abrupt and severe” global warming events with ~1,500-year periodicities can even be traced back to the iceless Jurassic period when Antarctica was a rainforest and 38°C warmer than today. This suggests the driving force for these global warming periods were not dependent on ice sheet dynamics.

"climate deniers" ? What a ridiculous and prejudicial term. Who denies the climate?

No need to ridicule, just because the word, "change" was not stated.

    Oh, FFS...

Do I need to state the obvious?

Clearly, it denotes the AGW/ACC Deniers.
In a thread of 1700 + comments apparently you're the only one that has a problem with the fact I left out the word change --which fyi was done because it takes up less space in the headline.

    Don't have a conniption

Use of "deniers" in any combination or alone is a scurrilous pejorative intended to stifle discussion and evoke "holocaust deniers". It is a marker for bad faith in debate.

It is greed to want electricity and transportation? You use that word multiple times which is silly. So the charlatans like al gore who have made billions from this fraud are not greedy?

Fossil fuels are by far the most affordable and most available energy source for the developing world. It is racist to deny them development over some lame theories.

Another example of not following the bouncing ball. The greed is from the individuals, the companies that produce all the fossil fuel products. There are plenty of alternatives for energy production that have been suppressed or bought by then figuratively buried. All so they can continue to maintain a steady flow of cash coming in. They gave no choice to the consumer. Anything else you'd like me to explain?

OK, there is a decline in some kinds of vegetation.

But, with the stupendous amount of carbon being mined and dumped into our atmosphere, vegetation really can't be more than a bit player.

And, I don't mean that to be derogatory. I don't believe there is a silver bullet - one solution.

Transportation is larger, as most vehicles dump CO2 into the atmosphere. But, that's not enough, either. We're going to need a lot of approaches where NONE of them can be sold as "THE" solution.
