Why are left wing dictators considered so much worse, not hypocrisy is it?

Dictatorship was around a long time before our current system, we still idolize the old english monarchs like Alfred, Richard, and Elizabeth. So, there is that. Self proclaimed kings do not elicit the fear of the new.

Most old style dictators make few bones about the will of the people, they "know" what's best and if they have to torture and kill their own citizens to do it so be it. Socialist and communist leaders proclaim themselves the messiahs of their people, they say they will be better than their predecessor. So when they are actually much worse than the person they replaced the hypocrisy stands out in bold relief.

The biggest reason though is that our government has aided, supported, and put many of these traditional dictators in place. As such no one here really wants to know how bad they are, so not very many people bring them up. Its an issue that has little to do with party politics, because both liberal and conservative US presidents are guilty of creating and continuing this kind of foreign policy.
