They believe in all the same basic principles of conservatism. Hard work, personal responsibility, not making excuses, pursuing your dreams, and being the best you can be. They enjoy making money and living well. And they view player hating (success shaming) as bad. Listen to this speech that Sean "Diddy" Combs delivered to an audience of university students. This is the Republican platform in a nutshell right here. Now compare that to Hillary's and Bernie's platforms. They're 180 degrees in the other direction.
Maybe because most rappers don't become filthy rich? Because most rappers grow up in poor neighbourhoods and abject poverty? Because they see societies inequalities first hand? Racism? Police violence? Failed drug policies? I mean. It seems Europeans know better than Republicans
Prolly because they never made the case for them to vote Republican. Thad Cochran, a Republican, made his case and got the support he needed to upset his opponents. If Republicans can just explain their basic platform without all the circus, they'll be alright.
Macklemore writes songs about thrift store shopping. That's the opposite of guys like Diddy and Jay-Z. You're missing the point. The ones who go on to become megastars succeed because they follow conservative principles. Just as Diddy explains in the video. So it makes zero logical sense for them to vote Democrat. Cash Money Records CEO Bryan "Birdman" Williams even ventured into the oil and gas industry. Sure sounds like a Republican to me. Democrats are environmentalists. They hate that stuff.
Many rappers are also entrepreneurs. Founders of their own independent record labels. Some even start clothing lines. And they very clearly love their guns. Most also believe in God. So at the end of the day, what is a rap star really but Donald Trump with a sense of rhythm?
The stupidity of this question is similar to a person asking Toyota owners "why didn't you buy Ford if you want reliable cars?"
If you can't answer the question, just say so. Ridicule is not rebuttal. I just presented a pretty solid case. If you took the word "rapper" out of this thread and just read the rest of the descriptions, you would be calling these people "right wingers." And you know you would.
It's not a ridicule. Can you think of a reason why someone who likes a reliable car owns a toyota instead of a ford? Because that would be the same reason why more "rappers" aren't Republicans...or even conservatives. Your case isn't solid because it's built on a false presumption.
For the vast majority of conservatives and neoconservatives it's all about the money. Their belief is poor people are to be hated, and it confuses them when a poor person rises from poverty but remembers the misery of that former life. This is why when any billionaire (and there are several) proposes programs to address poverty and income inequality, the right-wingers first response is to tell the billionaire to donate his money to the poor, but no one else should concern themselves with the problems of poverty, homelessness, inequality, or any other issue conservatism wants to ignore. .
You're not answering my question. Address my specific points or concede that you don't have a counterargument. Otherwise you're just trying to avoid looking wrong.
Is it 180 degrees? Pdiddy takes other people's music and pretends it is his, and Hillary takes other people's money and pretends it is hers
Except for all the bigotry and racist crapola that cons add to their rhetoric. You people could learn a lot from Combs.
I didn't answer your question because 1) it's built on a false presumption. To answer it would be asserting that I agree with your unfounded presumption and 2) it's been asked and answered before, on successful Asians and Jews who also tend to vote democrat. I'm not trying to avoid looking wrong, not at all. I think you are trying to avoid looking stupid by not answering my question though.
Ooh, sorry. Can you try again without the straw man please? I'm glad you posted this, though. Because you've just illustrated the problem perfectly. You guys really can't rebut this question very well without lying about where someone else stands. If it were simply a matter of ignorance and you just didn't understand conservative positions, that would be fine. There's no shame in that. Because it's nothing that becoming educated on the subject couldn't fix. You could ask honest questions seeking to understand the answers and we could give you those answers to help you put things into context. But you don't really care about the truth at all, do you? You just want to keep believing whatever makes you feel self-righteous. Like you're some bigshot social justice crusader and everybody else is the mean old bad guy. The facts really don't interest you, do they? When people care more about the truth than they do about their egos, then that's when you'll see real progress happen. Not the rhetorical kind. But the kind that actually changes lives for the better. So you don't have an answer then. Got it. Thanks for playing.
Many of them probably are but its in their best interest to publicly claim democrat. 95% of their fans are Democrats.
