The answer is that they for all their warts were willing to actively confront Obama and the Democrats. Romney should take note of that. Now that he has the nomination sewn up he should focus his efforts entirely on Obama and his horrible record. Thats what the voters want. One thing that made GW Bush formidable was you couldnt get him off topic. He simply would not discuss the Democrats issues on their terms. Romney should learn from that. Camp on Obamas disgraceful record and pound it like a kettledrum.
When your in primaries you have to focus on your rivals or you won't get the chance to go after the President. Not sure what else you wanted Romney to do. Now that he's the nominee all his focus will be on Obama.
The focus was Obama before the Primary..Romney led by 10. The OTHERS said he needed to be vetted..he gave up too easily last time. Well..he kicked their collective butts one by one..he isnt seen as SOFT anymore. This notion he has to attack Obama is correct..but not on personality..The RECORD will do just FINE. He HAD to go negative with Newt and Santorum has they LIED about their records..their achievements and why they were forced out of their last positions of power..Both had ANTI MORMON money guys behind them..when they really had NO support ...The church panicked and made it all about the anti Romney instead of the anti Obama.. 8 self implosions,all quality people wilting under the pressure. If this process would have happened last time..we might not have Obama in the 1st place.. ROMNEY LEARNED from last time...Obama has not. The Primary Campaign has done its job...no October surprises..no surprises except from what Obama gives Daily..a failed administration. It ain the color of his under wear..his religion..it's the color of The FLAG and what he wants to represent.. ALL OF US.

You will notice that all those candidates who you say went after Obama early, are not going to win the nomination. The one who focused on the fight at hand will be the nominee. How can you say that Romney chose a bad strategy? Now he will turn his machine on the democrats and do to them what he did to his rivals for the nomination. Pure destruction.
