Why do law abiding citizens have a problem with gun control?

What? Totally fabricated. USODC stats for homicides show the US at 3.9 per 100K and Mexico at 15.7. You don't have clue at what you're talking about. Ever hear of the cartels and the ongoing drug war in Mexico. Geez man get your lies straight. BTW did you ever give a definition of "sensible?"

Anyone I could lay my hands on, if my government decided that they were going to war against law abiding citizens.
And I can lay my hands on several, and afterwards, there will be some other weapons "not in use".

For god sake's man, calm down. It's really really tired.

Here's where I got the stats. If it's wrong and you can show me better stats than give me a link.

You think that's a possibility? You think you'd have a chance against the US government with whatever you've got?

You have no idea of what you're talking about. You're lumping all gun deaths including suicides into a single category. I suggest you look at the HOMICIDE rate before you try to BS us again. If you haven't heard Mexico is in the middle of a drug war. Estimated deaths could be higher than 120K, with many thousand missing. You can look up the UNODC stats, it's on wiki. You were going to mention what "sensible" means weren't you? Nah, just too hard for you to clarify.

According to the available evidence, the strength of the united states military has dropped to below what it was prior to world war two. There are many fewer troops available for engaging in armed conflict. This is during a time when trust in government is at an all time low.

Yeah, all gun deaths and violence, too. This is what the issue is. So if someone can show clearly that zero restrictions under any circumstances is the safest way to go, than show that.

Obviously my definition of sensible doesn't matter at this point. It's how you and whoever else defines it is what I'm asking about. As of now, most here feel it's sensible to have zero restrictions on any weapon.

    - - - Updated - - -

Meaning what? What does that have to do with what I asked?

Okay, so looking at the UNODC chart, China's rate is 0.8, and they apparently have very strict gun control. Australia is another at 1.0 with strict gun control.

So I guess there must be a good explanation for that.

I just picked them at random, btw, could go through all the countries with lower rates than the US and compare I suppose, but I'm sure you all know all the rates, restrictions and controls in each country, so maybe you can just tell me why Mexico is the one to compare to.

Found a list of countries that are gun friendly on a gun and ammo site, and the first country they listed was Honduras, which comes in at 84.6.

Has anyone who wanted to commit murder ever been deterred by gun regulations?

IF the right agreed with me, there would be a grass roots effort to make this stuff happen.

Again, we, as a society, dealt with the white supremacist issue. Back in the 1980s the government infiltrated and destroyed the white supremacists. Today, being neutered, they no longer exist except as a small contingent of has beens and younger guys that have never been in a battle nor are likely to ever be in one.

Society treats white people who even think about making a stand for their culture as if they were lepers. By contrast, if you are non-white and hate everything America stands for, we dare not offend you nor show the slightest bit of intolerance. In reality, we should suspend all immigration from countries where the people are known to accept the premise that America is evil (bashful of saying Islamists.)

    Now, for the FOURTH time:

Before people with a behavioral problem can get help from the government they have to get on taxpayer funded drugs. That is the standard protocol. AND if you want some feel good drugs, go to the doctor and tell them you are thinking about hurting yourself, having thoughts of suicide or homicide.

It's an instant prescription for SSRIs. The over-all answer would take many paragraphs, but if you have any common sense, you do not need to require everybody that walks through the doctor's office to be on drugs that are known to cause people to have homicidal and suicidal tendencies.

You and I are discussing the issue. Nobody else, on either side of the aisle wants to pursue it. We'd rather watch people die and let the puppet masters give us their Hegelian "solutions" (which are no solutions at all.)

I don't know, right now I was told to look at the connection between gun murders and gun control in other countries. Seems there may be a connection.

Has anyone been unable to defend themselves with a gun against a tyrannical government or anyone else because of gun regulations?

Is every question asked answered with a question?

Should I assume your answer is you believe there should be zero regulations, controls, restrictions, and anyone and everyone should be able to buy or possess any weapon any time, anywhere, from anyone, no questions asked?

    compared to what?

Love these unsupported ramblings that are in essence meaningless

You honestly expect me to believe that the US army is back to using horses and sabres?

    - - - Updated - - -

No WE have the Labor party which is your version of a "democrat". But it was not a left winger who brought in gun control here - it was a very conservative prime minister

    - - - Updated - - -

    Yes

In fact they have. Oh! Not those planning murder for gain or profit but it certainly reduces the impulse killings that seem to make up a large proportion of American firearm morbidity and mortality

Jews in Germany. It cost about 6 million of them their lives after a gun ban was implemented.

    Pretty much, yes.

In America we are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law by a jury of our peers.

There is no excuse for sending people to prison and them turning them loose if we cannot trust them. Do you ever analyze the stupidity by which America operates?

We put people in prisons and they behave as animals. Once they get out, we strip them of their being. They apply for jobs, but they have a record. So they don't get a job. They are always judged by their mistakes and not by any future accomplishments. So, most cons don't bother to try and do better. Their lives are ruined.

We {b}itch because undocumented workers are working jobs that Americans ought to be working, but the American workforce either has a prison record and / or they are on drugs and unable to function. So, instead of resolving the root of the problem, we are discussing ways to disarm the American people and reduce their unalienable Rights down to mere privileges.

It's time to get to the root of the problem. But, yes, EVERY American has the Right to own a firearm to protect their lives, the lives of loved ones and their property. Furthermore, the greatest reason for people to retain the Right to keep and bear Arms is, as a last resort, to prevent tyranny in government.

You cannot protect yourself adequately with some other guy telling you what's best for you to defend yourself with. And, with unalienable Rights, none of us (including the government) has the authority to disarm our fellow man.

Unfortunately the internet has seen a revival of white supremacist idiotology
Sorry but from where I stand this is example no 1 of the return of the white supremacist thinking.
SSRI's are not the root cause of mass murder or of most suicides

Why is this only a requirement in America??

I live in Australia and by law you cannot own a gun solely for the purpose of self defence

Brits do not think it is necessary to own a gun to defend yourself - neither do a lot of other people in other countries

    So why is America different?

Guns were not banned for everyone.

The only suggestion I see here resembling singling out groups is that regarding Muslims and Democrats and people on SSRIs.

So you are saying there should be zero restrictions for anyone and everyone here in America, no questions asked....Muslims, Democrats, people on SSRIs....anyone should be able to buy or possess any weapon at any time anywhere.

because such stupid laws are designed to harass honest people and not disarm criminals. If cops have machine guns for defense against criminals-so should other civilians

    - - - Updated - - -

that's just plain silly. If cops have them they are not "install dangerous"

you apparently know little about firearms or their uses.

If firearms were available for everyone on Germany, the holocaust would have gone down a lot different.

Please indicate where I said the above.

if civilian cops have a weapon, other civilians should be able to own and possess such weapons since cops can only use weapons for self defense against criminals. If cops have a firearm, that means that a governmental entity has determined that said firearm is useful for self defense in a civilian environment against violent criminals. Why should other civilians be handicapped when dealing with violent criminals?

You live in Australia. Correct, therefore our laws are none of your damn business.

"Brits don't think it's necessary to own a gun for self defense" We really don't care what the Brits think, we ended that discussion about 240 years ago.

Why don't you go to a Brit board and commiserate about those crazy American gun owners. Then you would find a willing ear and we wouldn't have to put up with your endless babble about non relevant other countrie's laws. We would both be happier.
