Why do those on the right look down on so many voters?

Trump looks down on everyone else. He thinks he's a "stable genius" and he openly manipulating a large cult.

I feel a little better about the insanity on campuses today after reading this, from the 60's:

Jensen's most controversial work, published in February 1969 in the Harvard Educational Review, was titled "How Much Can We Boost IQ and Scholastic Achievement?" It concluded, among other things, that Head Start programs designed to boost African-American IQ scores had failed, and that this was likely never to be remedied, largely because, in Jensen's estimation, 80% of the variance in IQ in the population studied was the result of genetic factors and the remainder was due to environmental influences.[9]

The work became one of the most cited papers in the history of psychological testingand intelligence research, although a large number of citations consisted of rebuttals of Jensen's work, or references to it as an example of a controversial paper.[10]

After the paper was released, large protests were held, demanding that Jensen be fired. Jensen's car tires were slashed, the university police provided him with plain-clothes bodyguards, and he and his family received threats that were considered so realistic by the police that they temporarily left their house. Jensen was spat on and was prevented from delivering lectures by disruptive protests.

Not sure how that would make anyone feel better.

Is it that we aren't degenerating as quickly as we might think?

Most Democrats I meet think the Civil War was fought in the 1960's and New England is part of the U.K.

We can't deny them the right to vote, but to see them line up to vote is so depressing.

I'm tempted to agree, except that there are differences between the 1900s and the 2000s. In 1900, most people didn't even have electricity, and the electric iron was barely an idea. If you were to take somebody born in the 1950s and use time travel to transport him to today, would he seem intelligent? His penmanship would certainly be better, but his vocabulary would be woefully lacking.

If you think teenagers today are stupid, remember that kids from the 1950s used to play chicken.

Looking down as you put it, is nothing new. Both sides do it and both sides make these idiotic comments. If a certain group doesn't vote for your candidate, one tends to look down on them or disparage them. These groups switch their support from whom they voted for in 2012 to whom in 2016.

High School or less 2012 Obama won them 52-47, 2016 Trump 51-46. Those with a college degree on this site are calling those with a HS or less uneducated voters, yet those uneducated voters help carry Obama to victory.

College graduate 2012 Romney won those 51-47, 2016 they went to Clinton 49-44. The old switcheroo.

Some group switch, others remain loyal. Each of us, as individuals or part of a group have a reason why we vote the way we do. It's an important reason whatever it is to each of us. I see no need to put any group down for voting for the candidate they think is the best.

What stands out when comparing 2012 to 2016 is that Trump pretty much matched Romney totals, percentage among most voting groups. It was Hillary Clinton who fell around 5 point short of Obama's totals or percentages. Some examples.
Whites Romeny 59, Obama 39, Trump 57, Clinton 37. Same 20 point advantage to the Republican
    Blacks Obama 93, Romney 6, Clinton 89 Trump 8
    Hispanics Obama 71, Romney 27, Clinton 66 Trump 28
    Asian Obama 73, Romney 26, Clinton 65, Trump 27
    Age 18-29 Obama 60, Romney 37, Clinton 55, Trump 36
30-44 Obama 52, Romney 45, Clinton 51, Trump 41 Trump fell 4 points below Romney
    45-64 Obama 47, Romney 51, Clinton 44, Trump 52
    Over 65 Obama 44 Romney 56, Clinton 45 Trump 52 an exception
Union Households, Obama 58, Romney 40, Clinton 51, Trump 43
Democratic Party Base Obama 92, Romney 7, Clinton 89, Trump 8
Republican Party Base Obama 6, Romney 93, Clinton 8, Trump 88 another exception
    income below 50,000 Obama 60, Romney 38, Clinton 53, Trump 41
50,001-100,000 Obama 46, Romney 52, Clinton 46, Trump 49, Trump fell below Romney
    and so on.

For the most part, Trump matches Romney totals within a point or two, but Hillary Clinton usually falls 4 or 5 below Obama's. I found that interesting. Others might not, but it sure did me.
