If violent crime is the US so bad that the rights of the law abiding must be further limited, how is it paranoid to want a gun for self-defense? Please be specific.
Actually, we are against the little inconveniences because they aren't going to inconvenience the criminals, but only serve to inconvenience the law-abiding. Just a waste of money.
While I don't subscribe to the practice of pigeon holing (i.e. conservatives & liberals), I remember hearing an expression that: "A conservative is a liberal who has just been mugged." I've lived in some rough neighborhoods and am old & experienced enough to remember at least 4 instances in which having a firearm has saved me from individuals whose intent was not to make me any healthier, wealthier or happier. That being said, I believe that deadly force should be one's very last resort. I've been armed (concealed) and allowed individuals to curse me, slap me, spit at me etc without ending their lives. I strongly suspect that there have not been more home invasions etc against anti gun people because of the large number of armed Americans. In a sense, they are more secure because they are riding on the backs of America's gun owners. How frequently do you see an anti-gun individual committed enough to their beliefs to place a sign signifying that their's is a "Gun Free Home"?
Are you familiar with the little known 7.62 x 25mm Tokarev round? Unfortunately, there are no modern pistols made for that round but if you check out its ballistics & performance, I think you'd be surprised at its lethality & effectiveness in defeating body armor.
That program has been tried and failed - - - Updated - - - Let me know when you present some....facts that is.
I'd have to look -- I'd wager most home invasions take place in urban areas, which are predominantly Democrat, who are predominantly the force behind gun control laws that restrict the rights of the law abiding. Assuming for the moment is the case, their refusal to recognize any legitimate use for a firearm in self-defense must rest somewhere else.
Nope, that program works very well. See the thread labeled "2017 What armed self defense looks like." Every day there are stories of successful defensive gun uses. The problem you are dwelling on has nothing to do with lawful gun ownership or CCW.
The problem I am dwelling is the deaths of thousands of americans. Whatever we are doing is not working
Lawful gun owners and CCW's are not in any way contributing to the criminal deaths of Americans. Try dwelling on criminals, if you are truly concerned for the deaths of these Americans.
Doing that doesn't create support limiting the rights of the law abiding. It's impossible for the state to have a monopoly on force so long as they citizenry remains armed, so...
Read my previous post about the Canadian long gun registry. Wait, you already did read it and decided to stick your head in the ground because you could not refute the facts.
Never mind the impossibility of demonstrating the necessity for a gun registry. How many crimes went unsolved because the firearm used in said crime could not be linked to the person who used it to commit the crime?
Does anyone believe that this guy cares about the gangbangers dying in the hood every day? Why don't you tell us what you are REALLY afraid of? - - - Updated - - - Wait a minute! Haven't you told us before that we would be "paranoid" for wanting to own guns? Yet you worry about the deaths of "thousands of Americans"? Your hypocrisy is showing.
Seriously, how ridiculous is this argument? If law abiding citizens are prevented from owning weapons, then crime will go DOWN? Completely absurd. Anti gun nuts are just absurd.
They refuse to acknowledge the real problem. If they acknowledged the real problem, then they would have to abandon their current solution.
