because that woudl be is a flat tax on every dollar earned (investment or labored income), same for rich and poor a like, but everyone gets a tax credit, be they rich or poor of say up to 20k (where ever that line is drawn)

and that tax percent should always leave us with a balanced budget or better, if the working class needs help, raise the tax credit, if need more for debt raise the taxes

Again, "taxes, commons", just as telling. It's someone else's money. Call it what it is; it's someone else's money. Why don't you just go do the giving yourself? Why do you need a law to get you to give? That's because you're not talking about you or your money; you always much more concerned with other people's money.
By the way, "shorthand" does not mean misrepresentation.

Socialism does not impose equality. Socialism imposes uniformity. Socialism regards the differences between equals as an injustice to be opposed by force of law.

Except that .. 99.99% of dentists DO earn a mother lode more than 99.99% of artists. That's about as knowable as it gets, in fact. But it was funny seeing you try to suggest otherwise :D

Socialists do not want equality. Socialists want uniformity. Socialists consider the differences between equals to be an injustice that needs to be eliminated by force of law.

    Not all of us :)

Some of us want only the important stuff socialised (health care and education), and would like to see more people who claim to be Socialists, or at the very least, Leftists .. take advantage of these opportunities and working for a living like good collective members, instead of complaining about not being rich enough.

Socialism is an economic system while communism is both an economic and political system. I think Republicans know the difference.

Actually, I think you are right about socialism is an economic system and communism encompasses both economic and politics.

Flat tax is where everyone pays the same share of the costs.
If something costs $300, million then everyone pays 1$ each.

Progressive tax is where everyone pays a % depending on their income or wealth.

In this way the poor pay less and the rich pay more.

This country was founded in response to a repressive government. Burdensome taxation is why we separated from England. We didn't want it then and we don't want it now.

Income redistribution is anti-American. We are a nation of individuals. We are not a nation of racial or socio-economic groups begging for goodies from government.

The issue was "taxation WITHOUT REPRESENTATION". Does that ring any bells or did you sleep through history classes?

I'm a socialist and I want socialism because that is how we will solve the social and economic problems that face us and capitalism can't solve. Education. Decent income for anyone who has a job. Record incarceration rate. Infant mortality. Poisoned water sources (Flint). War. Social violence. Racism. Toxins in the environment. Climate change. Fracking. Unnecessary oil leases and drilling. National parks at risk for oil drilling and mining. Excessive national debt. Militarized police. Rigged elections. On and on and on.

"Free stuff"? I don't need it and it harms society if it's not needed.

All I can say to this is that you need to talk to your local government and let them know how they can solve all of their problems by giving everybody an education and ensuring that anybody with a job gets a decent wage.

Let us know how it goes!

oh, and if education isn't "free stuff", then who pays for it? If it's youre retired neighbors, then whoever receives it is getting free stuff.

For your info, in reference to health care and education, I support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

    Article 25.

    (1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living ADEQUATE for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

    ADEQUATE
    ADEQUATE
    ADEQUATE

    Article 26.

    (1) Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all ON THE BASIS OF MERIT.

    (2) Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.

    (3) Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children

By the way, Socialism versus Socialized

    Socialism is an economic system, thus, which country has;

    a. a 100% publicly funded health care system
    b. an universally accessible health care system, both primary and secondary
    c. and health care services are 100% delivered publicly

    Answer; Just a few

By the way.....The U.S. and numerous single-payer countries have socialized health care programs, but it isn't socialism.

Actually socialism is a socio-economic system. It is about reordering economic relationships as much as it's about changing the economic system.

Good point Kode! There is an endless variety--a spectrum--of hybrid economies so the possibilities abound. These binary choices either/or are contrived.

RIGHT! The point is that since no successful, functioning, stable socialist economy has existed, it is impossible to specify exactly what a socialist economy will look like or how it will function. We have general guidelines but the specifics have not yet been worked out. And the specifics are what will give the final result its "flavor".
