Why the Second Amendment needs to be amended or abolished

Your assertion that the 2nd will protect us from the govt taking our rights, the Japanese were stripped of their rights and imprisoned. The 2nd did jack ****.

 

tRumpocrats came very close to overthrowing our Government on 106, they didn't need guns. Just a willing executive to egg them on. If they had succeeded, what rights would you have?

 

We need to just repeal all these stupid gun laws. The second amendment is all we need. There should not be any other gun laws as they are all against the 2nd. We have far far to many gun laws

 

LOL, how did that happen? Why weren’t they prepared after being warned? You really have tremendous faith in self entitled politicians and none in the American people.

 

Well, we could go back to the original interpretation of the Constitution, where the Bill of Rights did not apply against the states.

The only "little problem" with that is that it would overturn Roe v Wade. Something most progressives aren't going to be happy with.

 

Fine draft the amendment you want, send it out and see if 38 states ratify it. I doubt you'll get five.

 

I've pointed out in the past how laws restricting one freedom, even if it seems to make sense in that situation, are a slippery slope and just create precedent to take away more freedoms.

I think it's a fundamentally disingenuous argument to say that just because society has decided to curtail one freedom means it makes sense to curtail another.

 

If I had my wish, it would simply disappear from the constitution. Its way more trouble than its worth.

They should be treated with respect, but all sorts of things can be used to take human life.

If a murderer wants to kill someone, they are not going to be constrained by not having access to a gun.
Over half of all homicides in the US involve gang activities or between husband and wife.

 

Of course you could always move to some other country...

Or go to Mexico or South Africa where there is much more gun killings despite strict gun laws.

 

I personally think certain big cities like New York City and Los Angeles should be able to pass special laws where they can set whatever policy they want, and then build big walls around themselves with metal detectors at all the entry points and no cars allowed in or out, people can use public transportation.

I think that would be a fair compromise.

 

You’re not going to amend, or abolish the 2nd amendment. This is wishful thinking for a lot of people in the irrational left.

I’m in favor of some stricter gun control measures, but day dreaming about something unrealistic like abolishing the 2nd amendment isn’t going to accomplish much.

And lots of countries don't have a 2nd and their not tyrannies.

 

Well, that's a little bit more of a complicated discussion.

Most all of "these countries" are majority White English-speaking or Western European.

Or the United States is offering military support to them.

We can understand why a small country would be less likely to fall into tyranny when the big country they're relying on for protection wouldn't like that and would intervene.

I think there's good reason to believe that what goes on in the US could ultimately affect what goes on in other countries in the long-term.

And many of these White English-speaking countries are totalitarian in other ways, even if they have functional and fair democratic systems.

 

They also are not really free. Comedians put in jail. Not allowed to protect yourself or your family.

 

. For people who do not like murder sprees. You must be more tolerant of murder sprees, if you like spreading the weapons around that are most used in murder sprees.

 

Democrats certainly are. Look how they keep letting repeat offenders on the streets. 80% of crime is by repeat offenders. For some reason democrats think the criminals are the victims and the cops are the crooks.

Silly people think guns are the cause of crime.

So yes you are in favor of weapons of mass destruction being in the hands of mass murderers. Got it.

 

Such a nonsense argument. The majority of the country agreed with throwing Japanese Americans in camps. They were a tiny minority in California. Try harder.
