no, i simply go to shops who cater german culture. Since most acted like that, wal mart went bancrupt here.

Its also not an ego thing, Its called rational behavior. Give me a reason why i should let someone else put the stuff in the bag. What am i supposed to do then? stare in the air? getting fat?

No you're supposed to text people on your smartphone about obesity problems.

What reason is there not to permit someone to bag your crap for you? You think the bagger is going to break your precious purchases? You think they might laugh at your choice of purchase? Just what is it?

Actually, if there's something I would oppose there, it's the liberal use of "free" plastic bags that we have here in the States. It's a great way to create unnecessary pollution simply for customer convenience. At least where I get groceries, I can bring in my own bags as they do in Germany, and they'll even give me a small credit for doing so.

How does the cashier scan your items w/o touching them?

Those were the nicest apartments. Some of my friends had extremely huge places and they were junior enlisted.

I think you are absolutely right, I think I wrote that in response to a premise which negatively evaluated Germany under American domestic sentiment.

Just before your bagger took that fresh lettuce in his hands to stuff your bag, he was wiping his ass in a stall and got some chocolate on it. Not wasting time to get back to work he passed the sink up on the way to the register, and guess what dummy was standing there with a head of lettuce? LMAO!!

Susies nose is dripping into her soaked hanky, getting flu virus all over herself and hands, and she returns to packing up your stuff for you.

    You get the idea now?

People are paranoid about their lettuce? I bag my produce before it ever reaches the checkout lane.

And look at those low prices on everything!! I pay .89 for an orange here in CA where we grow them. I see a whole bag for 1.49 !!! And wow, what a big store!! America doesn't have stores that big here. And fresh carrots with the tops on them?? WOW. They dig ours with a machine cutting into them, cut the tops off and shove them in a plastic bag. No taste left by the time you get them home.

Then he handled your bills and coins as well. This little discussion, especially here at flu season, reminds me of some of these ways we can get bacteria and germs from flu carriers. Like they have hand wipes now at some stores, which is good for those that use them, but what did the picker, packer, delivery, producer use on that lettuce before it reach you?

I had nuclear training, so I always think about how people can pass things onto you by touching. The safest way to pay in flu season is slide that credit card, wash everything when you get home, cans, bottles, food.

Hm, I just don't worry about any of it. If anything, modern society is too clean.

I suspose you are right. There is a point of paranoidism that can set in. lol! It will be the small thing that kills off the human race, a virus of some sort that passes by water treatment or delivered in the air. The Dinos got theirs, we will get ours.

You've said this more than once, and then you posted pictures of all the grocery store chains in Germany displaying produce in open boxes and bins.

Do you think other people aren't touching your produce before you do?

Aldi is doing fairly well, at least in the Mid Atlantic And they beat the crap out of WalMart on food prices, though their selection is less.

You feel uncomfortable because of it? It's not a big deal, even if you don't like it. What an attitude. Are all Germans part Rumpelstilzchen?

Germans are just less reliant on others, and would rather do for themselves than be babied and coddled like conservatives want to be here. I noticed that first in looking at how Germans are working people, all of them, they will be working in their community's if they are not on a job, doing something and not stuck on a tube on the couch. We call them couch potatoes here! Here they are always trying to find a way to have others do their work for them. I get caught up in it myself, have a Gardner, maids, pool guy. You know they even ask us if they can take our groceries out to the car? LMAO! Americans lost the work ethic. They talk that rugged individual BS, and then have their wives making them meals! Most of them couldn't change the oil in their cars, lil lone a spark plug. Without an electric can opener they would starve to death!!

It has zilch to do with being healthy. It's a matter of convenience and efficiency.

Of course, what got the dinos was a mass extinction event :D And that waren't no virus! If we get ours, I expect it will be something far more catastrophic than a germ.

I don't think so. The flu shot before this one didn't work on most people over 60. I heard this current one was a dismal failure and judging from the reception room at the docs, I would say that may be true. Even the penicillin doesn't do much, and I tried about a dozen anti-virus killers and they slowed it down, but it is still running its course in me. I heard last week 28 people died from the flu. Cancer is another one. HIV, etc.

I guess we could get smacked by a meteor again. That what you think did dino in? Maybe he died due to a sun solar flare that wiped the atmosphere off mars.

Dad was an E-9 and there were four kids so we had the corner second floor apt above the arches. My bedroom was huge!

Lol...we used to walk down to the Rhine and count all the used rubbers along the shore...

    Ahh, youth!
