The New Testament of Christianity mentions homosexuality on three occasions.

    Romans 1:26–27
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

    1 Corinthians 6:9–10
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

    1 Timothy 1:8–11
8 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

There is no specific scripture in the New Testament establishing the moral right to murder the homosexual.

    these are statues from god:

    Proverbs 6:16-19New International Version (NIV)

    16
There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
    17
    haughty eyes,
    a lying tongue,
    hands that shed innocent blood,
    18
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
    19
a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

When people are taught to fear, hate and control others... violence isn't far from them.

Religion is indeed a poison, a blight, a stain on humanity. However, people will continue to ignore the fact that there's more in the Islamic world that agrees with these action than just the perpetrators.

I'm not a fan of religion either, but people have to come to disbelief on their own. Burning their holy books won't work.

I've held the opinion that in order for one to become an Atheist, all they have to do is read their text. Not just have it preached to them or cherry pic it, just read the entire thing as a whole and take in what it's arguing you should believe.

Both religions are violent and barbaric.

You mean the conflict that started when Muslims wanted to conquer Europe so the Catholic church responded? Indeed.

Yes, religion teaches fear, hate and control others.
Islam teaches that, for example, you control women by cutting of their private parts....Mohammad approved of that.

Secular governments have killed far more people throughout human history than all of the world's religions combined.

You're conflating secular countries with Communist countries.

Do we need a Better Religions Bureau at the UN?

Religion should Only be used for Goodness and not Badness.

I'm a Modern Secular Humanist, and we strongly believe in FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY, big-time. That separates us from Stalin, etc., of course. We both agree that totalitarianism is wrong - such as Jesus saying render unto the dictator Ceasar, and Jesus approving of kingdoms, etc. Jesus didn't understand democracy like Modern Secular Humanists do, of course. That's because Jesus was not smart enough, not divine enough (not divine at all, actually) to know that stuff. And in the last 2000 years he's never advocated that - because he's either not real, or not caring enough to tell us that.

    - - - Updated - - -

I despise communism, and I'm an atheist.

    - - - Updated - - -

Fifty people (100+ injured) in Orlando are learning first-hand the dangers of faith.....faith that Mohammad was correct when he said he "split the moon", so he's therefore divine, so he will show me the way to Paradise if I kill gays like he said to do in the Islamic texts......

Yes, they act as if the good things ("give to charity") I wouldn't know unless some ancient goat-herder tells me! They have no faith....no faith in humanity, that is. No faith in the goodness of people....only faith in magic superstitions. They don't have faith in humanity because Jesus said we are all "sinners", and that we are all "evil" or "wicked".

I don't care what they have faith in, but what they do. That is determines whether or not religion is a force for good or ill. Many debates have been had on this subject and the winning side is always that religion is not a force for good.

Why then does most of the violence seem to center around religious ideology?

The bodies in Orlando aren't even cold, and they're already being used as a talking point for politics.

    Stay classy.

I'd rather condemn murder and keep the first amendment.

Like with San Bernadino, long after the bodies are cold people forget that Islam was the underlying cause, and go about their daily lives as normal, and therefore don't change their attitudes towards religion.

WTF!? You seem to think that we can't condemn illogical superstitions (religions) and still have free speech. By condemning religion we are PRACTICING our free speech - for example in Islamic Pakistan people can't practice free speech (say something bad against Islam and the gov't will torture you), due to religion. Research it if you don't believe me.

Most violence centers around domestic relationships. It's just less newsworthy.

Religion will be the biggest loser in all this.
