Will this insane partisanship go away after 2020?

Other than the protectionist streak in him, there is virtually nothing remotely 'democratic' in this guy.

 

Except that everything he says was once said by obama, clinton or some other democrat.

What he is not is a conservative republican.

It's pretty obvious that insane partisanship defines a lot of forum members entire lives.

It's sad that people lack the mental capacity to be able to drop their partisanship for even a second and instead reduce everything to name calling like a 12 year old.

 

You set the bar pretty low. It only took Trump less than four years to undo all the damage of the disastrous Obama presidency.

This divide had been brewing for over twenty years. It started with either the Clinton impeachment or Bush's win over Gore, depending on who you ask...

The Clinton impeachment may have triggered the left but the very real hatred began with Bush/Gore. That was some of the nastiest back and forth I had seen and it has gotten much worse. It will culminate in violence at some point.

If Trump wins it will get worse because the Democrats will not be able to stand it and don't care about the country.

 

The Democrats divided the country permanently because they couldn't stand the fact they lost.

 

Then just as now the Democrats could not accept the fact they lost.

 

If you ask me, its been brewing since cable arrived. News and entertainment were fatally forced to marry when CNN 24 hours began to compete with Walter Cronkite, and Harry Reasoner and David Brinkley and every other network news show - and so did about 90 other stations that promised us movies, porn and sitcoms between 5-6, 10-11, and 8-10 am It got all the worse when the internet further diluted the audience for straight news.

how we get our news and what we expect it to provide us to keep us watching, changed politics, not the other way around.

 

I think I was unclear here. In this thread we were discussing Democrat with a big 'D' as in sharing the views of the democratic party. My views on whether he is undemocratic as in having authoritarian instincts is the subject of another thread.

 

It is the people who are driving it, not the politicians. They are just reacting to it and using it to get power. Sort of like building a hydroelectric generator on a river to utilize the flow of water for electricity. So too does the politician tap into the animosity and petty divides that flow through the people, to generate power for themselves.

It won't go away until the people decide they want to stop acting like brats.

Seriously, that's the whole problem, Trumpers want to judge everybody by their ethnicity. People are INDIVIDUALS, that's the basic idea of America.

Every year another crop of bobbleheads emerge, steeped in progressive propaganda. They can't spell, balance checkbooks, or think for themselves, but they can dutifully parrot all the dogma of Progressivism.

I sincerely hope so. I'm so very tired of the division & dispute. I want healing to take place. I want us to remember we're all Americans, & we share far more in common than we have in differences. Conflict or friendship is a choice. We need to make better choices. Today would be a good time to start.
