Unions once had a purpose in America a long time ago, now they don't. All they do is suck the life out of their members now and price labor right out of a job. The states that are not "right to work" states are dinosaurs now.

If your boss thinks you're not worth it then why would you? If you recall the Occupy idiots all wanted jobs starting at $100k.

Your poor planning is not someone else's problem.

I think Elvis has left the building. I'd hate to live in the rust belt with winter coming on though.

why would an employer want to crush a union? after all the employer claims they care about their employees and they don't need a union since the company will take care of them.

Except that's not true steve; not all of them demanded that, just some of them did.

It becomes someone else's problem if they cannot find work and end up on the welfare rolls. Or do you deny that?

Any employer who takes care of their employees, they won't need a union to represent them. Mine does, they have people lined up to work for them.

Do you think it should be ultimately be up to the employees whether or not they need a union?

Yes, I do. With that being said, I have never needed anyone to speak or act for me. Since I give 100% to my job from the minute I clock in to when I clock out, a union was never needed. Unions are for the lazy and sloven that think they should get paid for doing the minimum amount of work as possible. They are the ones that would end up on welfare if they were fired from their jobs. It's why I think welfare should consist of the Government handing out food and used clothing only. If you want a roof, get a job and work hard at it.

If you've never been in a union, then how can you make a statement like that. You have no idea what unions are about; most likely only what you've read in anti-union publications. That statement from you alone gives you absolutely no credibility on this topic.

I've worked in a Union shop before. The President of the Union had his own key to the Owners ski lodge in Aspen. I never joined the Union because I never needed to.

It frees the worker to seek their own pay increases and promotions, unions only held me down in the past. And the union is not required to represent non-dues paying employees in disputes AFAIK.

It is up to them if they want to form jne and it ahould be uo to the employer if he wants to hire them as union workers and deal with that group of employees.

Sometimes there are just not enough jobs in one's chosen field of work or in some cases few or no jobs outside of their skill sets.
