Maybe they were just profuse writers that liked to make things up, or maybe they were writing about things they witnessed and did not understand.

Do you believe the Baghavad Gita to be true?

Why on Earth would anybody want to sit down and cook the Baghavad Gita up?

Firstly the snooty jewish priests were gunning for prophets, so they wouldn't make it up and put themselves in the firing line like Jesus said- "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you!"

Secondly, yes that's a good point you make about prophets not understanding the messages God was giving them to pass onto the human race, (are you sure you're not a prophet yourself?), but they wrote it down anyway..:)

They were just making guesses about the meaning of life and human existence (like Buddha too) but the bottom line is they were as human as me and you, so although they gave it their best shot they were often wide of the mark..:)

God is in you! He has revealed Himself to you. You are left without excuse, regardless what you tell others.

And now you flip that logic around and also apply it to the Bible, yes?

The ancient eastern mystics were just firing blanks, but the Judeo-Christian God fired full metal-jacketted rounds to bust heathen ass..:)
As a great prophet once said-

    "This is this!"

Except for all the things the Bible gets flat out wrong. Why do you ignore those?

Is it special pleading or hypocrisy?

How about we start wih the census that the Bible claims occurred when Jesus was born. Literally everything it claims about it is a flat out lie.

Do you think Robin Hood, Tarzan, Ben Hur, Sherlock Holmes, and Batman were real people?

I worship the Holy Hamster who died on the running wheel for our sins.

"And lo, speaketh the Hamster. Eat this hard, crusty pellet...for it is mine flesh....and drinketh from this tube, for it is mine blood. And yea, it was all good...", Rodents 1:11.

I'm no saint myself, I was expelled from school in the 1960's for "not trying", and in 2002 I was jailed for 3 months on a vigliante charge, I've been around..;)

Off topic, but oh well . . . I was kicked out of school in the sixties for never showing up. Spent more than a few days in the juvenile detention center. My adult life hasn't been too straight up either. It takes all kinds, I guess.

Good for you mate, we rebels don't take BS from nobody..:)
For example Jesus's young cousin John the baptist was a world-rejecter living rough in the middle of nowhere eating wild food and dressed in near-rags, sometimes going in town to yell insults at the snooty priests and corrupt rulers.
    Jesus's verdict on him? -
"John is the greatest man ever to be born" (Matt 11:11)

Michael York as John in Zefirelli's 'Jesus of Nazareth', in action against Herod and his floozy-

It does not matter what you say, God is in you. If you want to ignore Him, that's up to you, but as for the existence of Him, you are left without excuse. He reveals Himself in your heart......love.

Love is a chemical reaction. It can be artificially induced.

Are you saying God is a bunch of chemicals?

Wait a sec here....so this God thingy made something that pretty much disproves everything in the book it also made to explain what it is because no one can see it, smell it, touch it or taste it, let alone understand it? This does not sound like a very smart move to me.

There is nothing artificial about love. Your artificial induced love, if it can even be done, compares nothing to the real thing. I am not saying God is a bunch of chemicals.........actually you are!

Love is a chemical reaction. That is a fact. And yes, it can be artificially induced. It can also be artificially suppressed.

Once again, your ignorance of science has caused you to latch onto a bull(*)(*)(*)(*) argument like when you didn't know about asexual reproduction.
