Let's be frank: who cares? None of us are starving. We all have computers and access to the world wide web and water and food whenever we want. As long as I have enough food to keep myself overweight and a warm bed to sleep in at night, I don't give a rip about anyone else. Who cares - it's someone else who is starving! LOL. Let's focus on ourselves and not worry about those beyond our help.
Agreed, we are not responsible for other nations and our generous food aid only causes them to overbreed far beyond self sustainability. Every nation is responsible for it's own self sustainability. If we decide to convert all of our grain that we would normally export into fuel and ending our reliance upon foreign oil, the resulting humanitarian disaster would be their problem, not ours. SELF SUSTAINABILITY is no longer an option, but necessary.

So when do you intend to leave the hundreds of other countries that you have military bases in then if you have no responsibility for them?

American troops are in those countries due to requests/agreements with legitimate universally recognized governments of those countries, they are there for different, hopefully mutually beneficial reasons, feeding the local population is not part of the mission though. That's what the UN and private charities are supposed to do, aren't they?
According to the OP tho' we are not responsible for what happens in those other nations. We shouldn't help them according to the OP. Needless to say I disagree with that notion since after all, we do have and have had military presence their for centuries.

Having military presence (usually quite tiny anyway) in a country does not make anyone responsible for what happens in that country. A bilateral military agreement with a legitimate government is just that - a military agreement, not a commitment to feed their hungry, house their homeless and employ their unemployed.

Of course it does. The military presence is effectively propping up the rogue/illegitimate/non-democratic govt. This is due to the host nations govts lack of support i.e non democratic. If western powers deem it appropriate to prop up a foreign govt then by reason it stands that the said govt has no real and tangible power. This is extremely simple to comprehend. The western infrastructure, particularly the military one, is solely designed to exploit foreign territory. In the uk we pump out armoured personnel carriers by the thousands to facilitate this very need of subduing the native inhabitants of said nations. WE don't need APC's in europe! It's design is for foreign occupation and globalization.

Nonsense, the western military presence is not propping any regime unless you can come up with a credible example of a regime in a poor country propped up the military presence that would otherwise have been overthrown and become an economic powerhouse. PS all these "rogue/illegitimate/non-democratic" governments are UN members in good standing.
