If Zimm didn't want to pay attorney and defense costs he could have done it via the option available under FL law...requesting a "Self Defense" hearing from the judge prior to trial and securing an affirmative ruling.

    They didn't, MOM's got nothing.

Good. Let him try. He has to prove his case first.

NOT defense witness fees, I don't know why that was included in this report other then that the witnesses might have been required by the state as a "court fee".

Also, during the trial they state asked the defs star expert witness how much he was paid and he replied 1200 dollars. So this 200-300k figure is quite curious.

    From the FOX article...

"The Orlando Sentinel reported that under Florida Statute 939.06, a defendant who has been acquitted is not liable for costs associated with his or her case. The money would come from the state Judicial Administrative Commission."

    This is an outright lie.

But it's good catnip to lure Zimm lemmings to the article.

Nothing in the article mentioned anything about prosecutorial misconduct...which hasn't been proven anyway.

They would have ZERO standing. Zimmerman's actions were lawful.

If a defendant can be reimbursed if found not guilty then the state ought be able to be reimbursed for expenses when a person is found guilty.

Nope, the state is the one bringing the case. If it was the other way around I'd agree.

if not guilty actually meant innocent I would agree with you, but we all know that isn't the case. Most people who end up in a jury trial are there because of their own actions, regardless of the verdict.

The fact that you agree with the Zimmerman verdict should have NO bearing on this, what if OJ had been reimbursed for his expenses? I mean he was found not guilty to.
