Are you saying it is impossible that he felt he needed to defend himself? Why is it only Zimmerman that can claim self defense? Oh yeah because he killed an unarmed kid so his is the only story we get to hear.

Every man is armed with their fists and potential rage pent up within them.

We don't have all the facts for this case. Don't be unprofessional.

You're the one who is race baiting.

Race has nothing to do with this. . .until a Federal investigation decides if the shooting was racially motivated.

First, the investigation needs to demonstrate if the shooting was REALLY about self-defence.

The co-author of the law, Dennis Baxley, doesn't think it should apply in this case:

    [quote

]Baxley also added that the 911 tapes showed that Zimmerman followed Martin despite a dispatcher's request to stay away appeared to show that the 28-year-old crime watch volunteer was the aggressor. "The guy lost his defense right then," Baxley told Cooper. "When he said, 'I'm following him,' he lost his defense."

Oh so the young black kid can't defend himself against the unknown adult who is following and confronting him in the dark? Yep he was black and wearing a hoodie. No way he felt he might be in danger.

There are a crap load of black kids killed every day, all across the country, but no one makes an issue out of it until an election year. There are thousands of black men and women harassed by the police every day, but no one cares until an election year and...man, you gotta make it to the news to get the President to weigh in.

We cannot pursue justice by tearing down the foundations of our legal system. That same lack of due process (for Zimmerman), if we allow our emotions now to subvert it becomes, or has the potential to become, written into case law or to actually have new laws written that will be used against people later in ways we did not expect.

When emotions are high politicians use it to their advantage. Laws created that subvert liberty affect us all.

Creating and adding to an already wide partisan divide is evil--especially when the emotions have been roused and propelled by a spirit of doing good.

    I've noticed. I agree.

When this first happened, I was convinced the Hispanic guy was at fault.

As I dug a little deeper, I discovered things were not as “cut and dried” as I was originally led to believe.

The press obviously has a "bias" and their bias came through in their original reporting of this incident.

Clearly, the kid was the agressor in this situation.

Here are my reliable news sources that support this statement.

I have made it easy for you this time. You don't have to read anything.

All you have to do is listen to a very reliable Orlando news report!

Oh I'm sorry you have all the evidence to this case? Well just what in the heck are you doing here sunny go represent the young lad's family and make some money!

The irony in your post is that it took dishonesty for you to arrive at that conclusion.

Anyone that does is a fool.

The only thing to discuss is the Victimology Pimps racism and the leftwad press' racism and the PF poster's racism.

Thanks, Obama, for setting back race relations in America 3 decades.

Bottom line is that if you have the ability to get into a vehicle or residence and call the police you should. At the very least its criminal negligence and at worst homicide.

The kid did not break into a home (castle law), or if he did he was no longer in it.

Zimmerman is not Batman, he's not even The Punisher. There was no public authority or community consensus that they wished him to defend their property with lethal force.

If the kid was beating him he could certainly, being larger, engage in a physical altercation if it was so important to him that the kid be punished for something.

However, my opinion is my opinion. It is informed only by news stories and not by a collection of evidence and a thorough review. It is not based upon someone's testimony.

So due process should stand. It appears that he is invoking a right to defend himself and therefore should not have been jailed until enough evidence is presented that the ADA feels there is a case for criminal activity that he/she could bring to grand jury.

But we shouldn't allow legal history and equal justice to stand in the way of emotion.

You are easily satisfied when it serves your purpose, aren't you?

That WHOLE report is based on what the "police" said. . .and now, the police chief has received a vote of "non-confidence" and is stepping aside "momentarily."

And. . . what the police "said" is based SOLELY on what Zimmerman said. . .who is the shooter!

The "Witnesses" have not been named. . .but real witnesses who have tried to give statements for 30 days have been ignored by the police. . .including ONE WITNESS who was on the phone with Trayvor when he was being followed by Zimmerman! . . .but the police was not interested in THAT witness. . .or her phone records. .. It took Trayvor's family to get those records from the phone company!

It should also be pretty easy to see where Zimmerman's car was parked, and where the kid's body (with Zimmerman straddling him) was found. . .

Please note that I was able to write this whole post without EVER mentionning either party's race. . .BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE MAIN ISSUE in this. . .the main issue is a kid is dead, and a the man who killed him didn't even get a alcohol or drug test, and his clothes were not even examine for gun powder!

I guess you may have gotten an education at "Miskatonic University" also?

It's an opinion. Never stated it was a fact. I am saying that it is very likely that Martin felt threatened by Zimmerman and felt he had to defend himself. Why would he be wrong in that assessment? He was being followed and confronted by an adult male that he didn't know. Those are facts. For all this kid knew this guy was a serial killer or trying to rob him. Even if he identified himself as neighborhood watch it still doesn't matter. People will say anything to gain the trust of others to do horrible things to them.

Apparently, based on your posts, you would qualify as a "fool" then. . .

You OBVIOUSLY are taking a position. Even if you want to wrap it in a political and racial "partisan" issue!

The story is about what the story is about.

Do you have something which contests the OP's new information? If you don't, you're just as guilty as attempting spin as anyone you accuse.

My initial reaction was to condemn Zimmerman - but of course I should have assumed some agenda in the reporting. Now, there is much more reason to wait to draw conclusions.

And - so far - I don't see any evidence that what has been explained in the OP has been dismissed or refuted.

    Have you?

How is it not believable? Are you saying that a 17 year old kid couldn't feel threatened by an adult male following them in the dark, or are you saying that no one has ever impersonated a position of authority to gain the trust of a victim? Ever hear of the Hillside Strangler?

My ex-coworker's (who killed himself) grandpa was the hillside strangler.....

But you are basing an opinion without possibly knowing the evidence. And the new evidence that is surfacing just makes your opinion highly unlikely. Something else was going on.

Can we agree that the whole confrontation between Martin and Zimmerman, regardless of what went down, occurred because Zimmerman basically tried to detain Martin off private property. He was NOT a member of a hired security firm but rather a member of the Neighborhood Watch with NO intrinsic detention and arrest powers.

So from a Libertarian point of view, wasn't Zimmerman completely out of line in stopping Martin? Remember that no crime had been reported, no suspect description given and in fact he had been advised by the police NOT to stop Martin. So my question is: was Zimmerman right in accosting Martin, and if not does that mean he is guilty of at least manslaughter because Martin died as a result of that confrontation?
