The same goes for Australia. In 1986 (or 1987?) the British parliament passed a law that the British monarchy, now and future NOT get involved in Australian politics and economics.
It's the freedom to protect yourself with lethal force. You get it, you just want to be argumentative. Or maybe you're one of the types who would prefer to die in a pool of their own blood after stabbed to death by a couple of criminals.
Rubbish. 25% of all Australians have atleast one parent born overseas. The Vietnamese community is one of the largest communities in Australia.
No sweetie - you almost had it too. It is about culture. Prohibition of Alcohol works, mostly, in muslim dominated countries because the majority of the populace do not want alcohol.Banning guns works in England and Australia because the majority of the populace do not want guns I have said for years Americans should not ban guns but you should seriously consider banning all the myths surrounding guns The essence is
That is a BIG proportion of the reason why. The political slime mongering that the NRA has done ever since it sold it's soul to the small arms manufacturers is astounding.
Nope Aussies - we really really do not "get it" because we do not think that way at all fewer guns = fewer chances to come up against someone carrying a gun = safe society all the way around
As long as they just shoot themselves, I have no problem with each of them having arsenals the size of Ft Hood.
I don't have to arm myself to the teeth. I don't even own a firearm. You just don't get freedom I guess.
This is what i don't understand with this freedom view and guns. What happens in the usa when you pick up a gun. does it give off a mist of super natural forces? A blue aura that coveres the gun owner in the spirit of freedom.
We have enough freedoms in Australia without having to arm ourselves to the teeth. After the Prot Arthur masacre, Australians took to the streets and demanded tighter gun laws. The government listened. That's what I call democracy and freedom.
I am for hand guns and rifles... no exceptions period, everyone has a right to protect their homes and families, even people with mental issues or past criminal history what I am against is machine guns, ext....
So why only hand guns and rifles? Surely it is also freedom to own machine guns. what about rpgs. Hand grenades. Isn't that also freedom. Why exclude the larger guns, This is never explained, why are some guns free and others are not.
But most Americans are not on the street demanding gun control. Most american gun owners are responsable people that would call the law if someone were breaking into their home and would only use a gun as a last resort. The ones that are not responsable would own them anyway.
And anyone that thinks American gun owners are going to rise up against the government are nuts. They military would kick their butts. they have the big guns.
Gun crime in Australia is still about the same as it was before the draconian laws passed that disarmed non criminals so you still have the same chances of coming up against someone carrying a gun without any way to counter it but I am glad it makes you feel better.
Let me throw you a hypothetical: Lets say you're walking downtown in any ghetto and you only had your little 22 pea shooter handy and a group of bloods and or cripts(sp)--all heavily armed look to do you in....wouldn't you be more comfortable having a machine gun handy where you'd be able to pick off the majority if not all of those freaks, whereas with only a pistol at hand and seriously outnumbered, you probably wouldn't survive in the first 5 seconds of a gun battle.
The way some forum members talk of machoism on this forum. Their violent tendancies would dictate, hand to hand combat would first be used or they are surely cowards. These brave internet warriors, don't even need fists. Their strong heads can be used for butting.
Over 200 million registered firearms, not to mention countless illegally owned guns kind of sounds unfettered to me.
Fists against a heavily armed gang would surely be a loser, so I suggest we uphold our Constitutional right to own and bear arms anytime and anywhere we like for our own protection.
