Because it's easy to bash the one you don't do. See I'm all good cause I'm not gay, but let's not talk about usury, gossip, or the command against not paying your workers what they're owed. It's more fun to tell people what they're doing wrong wile sitting on a high horse.
    how about some James:

But lets not talk about that. That's what WE do.

Good one. How about you guys just admit that this is pure bigotry and nothing else? You know homosexuals exist. Providing federal marriage deductions is the job of the federal government and not the church, we are not a theocracy no mater how much you guys want that. The general consensus in the scientific field (and yes, I know you're going to have some sort of knee jerk reaction to this and declare science to be some sort of liberal conspiracy, but try to keep the crazy to a minimum) is that homosexual parents are just as good as heterosexual parents. I mean, what exactly do you think is going to happen if homosexuals can marry? That you or your family will turn homosexual because *GASP* they can now MARRY instead of just being together?! That the divorce rate in this country (which is already around 50%) is going to rise even further?! You act as if marriage is some sort of sacred divine ceremony. It isn't, and it never has been. Why can adulterers get married but not homosexuals? Why can atheists for that matter? Aren't they just as immoral and sinful as homosexuals?

And those things are indeed talked about routinely during services. Go ahead and start a thread on one of those subjects and see how far it goes on this forum. The reason homosexuality gets attention is because it is an issue that is up for policy review as we speak. The fact that it gets more attention now than it did 100 years ago, might have something to do with that fact as opposed to people simply dismissing everything else.

In short, these are little more than metaposts and not really relevant. If you want to discuss something else, then start a thread and do so. If you want to discuss why homosexuality is getting attention now, in cae you live under a rock or something, make a thread about that. But if your intent is thread derailment, keep bringing up other topics and pretending that they are relevant to a discussion about homosexual marriage or sexuality in general. They aren't.

What God thinks or will or will not do to Gays is not Your business, leave the judging to the judge and take care of your own business. See how simple that is.

No, you're advocating that you should judge them by incorporating your theology into our law.

We should start a whole list of what the Bible condemns- or maybe a thread for each one?

No, YOU are trying to play judge, whether you actually know that or not does not change the fact of the matter. It is just like you saying gays cannot even truely believe in God, another judgement on your part. Those that play judge will be judged in kind, leave the job to HIM and worry about your own life more and leave the lives of others to themselves. Curious WHY would you post several threads attacking gays, the way they lead their lives has no affect on yours unless you let it, so simply leave them alone, or do you have some sort of issue with gays?

That's all fine and dandy... Are you Jewish or Christian? There is a HUGE difference....

Jewish believe in the Old Testament and that being God's word and there are some things containing inside The Old Testament that may put a light on homosexuality.

If you are Christian, well, you believe in what Christ states and he states something completely different. Jesus stated believe in My Father's Commandments and my teachings... Christ never speaks of homosexuality. Nor is homosexuality within The Ten Commandments....

So, the answer is - if you are Christian, which I believe you are, then you follow Christ's word and he doesn't say crap about it now does he. So, do you follow what it states in The Old Testament and stone prostitutes and all that, or follow Christ's word?

OH - and just an FYI... How Iran treats their women is Old Testament...

I agree, the bible consistently condemns homosexuality.

It's one reason I know it's not really a "holy" book at all, but a collection of very out-of-date preaching and morality tales.

"“If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4 Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.” (Luke 17:3-4)

Yep, they will be judged in kind. So if I attempt to stick my penis in a mans butt, I expect someone to remind me that the behavior is wrong. Just like I expect them to tell me the same thing if I commit adultry, rape, etc. etc. Being held to a clear standard is not judgement per sea, its consequence.

Attempting to rationalize the sin by saying it common (lying is), its stil wrong. And ithe conseuqnce of avoiding God's laws and commandments are literally to be caste out of God's presecence - which any kind of sexual promiscuity results in. But heh, if people want to be homosexual - more power to them.

Its when Gays start saying their choices are moral ... because they were just born that way ... um, but cannot prove it and the evidence of shifting sexuality strongly disagrees, and then demand that they not just be accepted ... but advocated ... well, therein lies the rub.

Its them demanding a standard of judgement, and they are telling us that we should not judge sexual choices .... well, both common sense and science pointedly disagree with such a stance.

So please save the sanctimonous preaching for those who actually think we are commanded not to judge ... as opposed to not judge hypocritically. Butt sex is wrong for everyone. If you chose to do it - more power to you. Enjoy it all you want. If you want me to tell you its OK, or pay you to adviocate it ... well, therein lies the rub. (no pun intended).

Well< i am sure your opinion baased on current popularity is more valid that God's. Because you say so.

Go ahead and prove that homosexuality benefots a society. Go ahead.

Look at history and see why almost every society has at one point or another tolerated homosexuality, and, without exception, that tolerance was eventually eliminated. Without exception. Tell us why this current bout of tolerance will be different? What benefot does homosexuality bring to our society?

By all means, share your wisdom oh wise prophet of all things atheist.

I do not believe any sort of right should be up for debate. And there's a little thing in the constitution which separateres church and state. So if those men in dresses don't like gay people for some reason, it mustn't make a difference. The state is there to protect their rights to wear a dress in pink and purple just like the state is there to protect any other group of people from abuse of others. But if gay people were the pink dress without the silly white hat, the religious people get mad..

It's weird. I wonder if people who're against gay people, are also against women having the right to vote. After all in the church a women is a sinner and should be dressed in black and never have sex either. Only Jesus she should love. If the world would be like the Vatican wants, we'd be extinct already. Women and men all locked away someplace never allowed to contact each other. Men all as priests and women all as nuns. What a beautiful empty planet this would be...

It's funny, with so little time to say what was imperative, Christ never thought the subject important enough to even comment on. But then he spent so much time with drunks and whores his opinions were probably kinda muddied by the time he died.

Wow, irrelevant to the topic entirely.

Is anyone saying you cannot be gay? Wear a dress? Are are we saying that being gay is not right, but do what you want? are we saying we draw the line and giving you money because you choose a certain sexual behavior?

What a worlds it would be without false atheist propoganda corrupting our youth.

He did. He addressed the Deuteronomic laws specifically in the parable of the adulterous woman. Adultery is STILL a sin, but it is not one that results in physical death by stoning. Go forth and sin no more .... that applies to all the old laws, just not the punishment as previously perscribed.

You are indeed right, Jesus though the lesson was so painfully obvious, that he did not indeed visit each of the laws and reiterate them - its patently obvious. What Jesus did not do was say, "Yeah, those old laws, all still good except homosexuality! That's OK now!"

You are now the third random atheist to make the same point just in this one thread. So it begs the question ... which atheist web site is spreading this bit of propoganda? Deliberately, once again, leaving off relevant sections of the Bible to make it say the opposite of what it says.

Well, which site did you lift that off of?

what I was saying was that people use their religion to condemn the rights of others. And in a free country there is no place for that. I'm pretty sure Jesus's viewpoint on the matter wasn't condemn people because they are so and so, but love your enemy. So whatever the church condemns really doesn't matter. Neither real Christians nor the state should take any of this seriously what people try to find in a old book, just to justify their anger towards a certain group of people.

It's not the bible which condemns gay people it's the Vatican. The "humanized" institution.

And what I am telling you is that atheists do the same thing.

    And yes, its the Bible.

Its also the Torah, the Koran, Buddhist Scripts, and even Hindu Scripts.

There must be a raeson that all the major religions have a similar position on homosexuality, ya think?

Would you agree with me that society changes? You know that we used to have slavery and we kinda figured out that this is not a good idea. Even in the in the bible people had slaves. Some time after we figured out that slavery really isn't particularly fair, we figured out that maybe women should have a right to vote too. And now we're in the debate if gays should receive the same rights as the rest of us.

My vote is clear. If you're human, you should have the same rights as everybody else.

People always condemn what they don't understand. So usually the solution is education.
